A thank-you letter

Maybe this article can’t be called as a thank-you letter, I don’t write one because I don’t know how to say to him when I really write to him. So I don’t write, but I feel really grateful for what he had done for me.

In my way of life, I have met a lot of important persons helping me in different parts of my life. They contain many people like my sisters, my mother, my father, my grandfather, my grandmother, my teachers, and even many strangers. I have taken all they had done for me for granted (b3, u5, p158). And I have never thought of writing a thank-you letter to somebody. But now I will give my thanks to one of my teachers, who had made me encouraging.

It was 2008 when I took part in my first university entrance examination. However, I didn’t get a good mark. In the eyes of (b3, u2) most people, I was a loser. I was so frustrated that summer. I could enter no university; instead, I stayed at high school waiting for another entrance examination. Whether I could succeed is anybody’s guess (b3, u1). There, I met him, my head-teacher. Those days were my hardest days in my life. I gave up all hope, and I had no confidence to go on learning anything. Then my head-teacher Mr. Xing appeared in my life. I am sentimental (b3, u5) in some ways. Those days at school I often feel sad and wept myself. He realized my sadness, and began paying close

attention to me. He always chatted with me in his office. He told me his own story when he was in high school. And he taught me how to make the best of (b3, u2) my time to study. Every time after an examination he would analyze the causes of success or failure. Gradually, under his help, I turned optimistic again. I participated in the next year’s university entrance examination; I got a quite satisfying score at last. I entered my dreamful university, I felt thankful to him. Without him, I wound not get through that hard time. In some sense, he saved me of my life. If I can meet him again, I will thank him face to face for what he had done to me. However, I think the best way to pay back him is to be a teacher like him, to help more children in their life. I am sure if I do so, he will be very happy. I hope that one day my students could thank me so much as I thanked him.

So what is the better way to express your gratitude? We can buy them a drink or invite them to have dinner at home, it also promote your intimacy.

因此，当我们对感激别人的时候，应该说点什么呢，有时候谢谢可能会诚意不够或者会疏远彼此。比如，当我们受到别人的帮助的时候，如果对方是陌生人，“谢谢”就合适了，但是如果他们是我们认识的人，说谢谢在中国来讲有点奇怪，对方会觉得你没有把他们当做朋友。所以最好的表达感谢的方式是什么？我们可以请他们喝一杯或者请他们来家里面吃一顿，这样也能增进感情。

“Thank you” can be useful, as it is able to build a bridge for people to communicate, Chinese people are not get used to expressing gratitude directly, while the western people prefer the directly way, that’s cultural difference. I suggest people saying out“thank you” naturally, making it a habit.

“谢谢”很有用，因为它能建造一座桥梁，让人们交流。中国人不习惯直接表达感激之情，然而西方人就喜欢直接的方式，这也是文化的不同。我建议人们自然地说出“谢谢”，让这成为一种习惯。
