中考复习政治经济文化类专项练习

一、阅读理解

Every morning my father buys a newspaper on his way to work. Every evening my mother looks through magazines at home. And every night, I look at the posters with photos of David Beckham and Yao Ming on my bedroom wall before I go to sleep. Can we imagine life without paper or print?

Paper was first created about 2,000 years ago, and has been made from silk, cotton, bamboo, and, since the 19th century, from wood. People learned to write words on paper to make a book. But in those days, books could only be produced one at a time by hand. As a result, they were expensive and rare. And because there weren’t many hooks, few people learned to read.

Then printing was invented in China. When printing was developed greatly at the beginning of the 11th century, books could be produced more quickly and cheaply. As a result, more people learned to read. After that, knowledge and ideas spread quickly.

Today information can be received online, downloaded from the Internet rather than found in books, and information can be kept on CD-ROMs or machines such as MP3 players.

Computers are already used in classrooms, and newspapers and magazines can already be read online. So will books be replaced by computers one day? No, I don’t think the Yao Ming poster on my bedroom wall will ever be replaced by a computer two meters high!

4.What happened after books became cheaper?

A. People didn’t want to buy books.

5.What is the writer’s opinion about books and computers’?

Did you visit the Shanghai World Expo last summer? What impressed (给??留下印象) you? 21st Century Kids invites four kids to talk about their experiences. They are back from the Expo. What did they bring us? Let’s see what they have to say. I went to the SAIC-GM Pavilion (上汽集团通用汽车馆). I found my dream car there. It is a green car. Its name is “Leaf”. Chinese engineers made the car. Its roof is in the shape of a leaf. The roof takes in CO2 and changes it into electricity

for the car.

The Japan Pavilion is full of high technology. The “Wonder Camera” is cool. It can find a smiling face in a crowd. When you’re smiling, it takes a photo of you. I want to invent something like that in the future.

My favorite pavilion is the Germany Pavilion. I watched the Energy Source show. Visitors made a ball swing back and forth (来回摇摆) by using only their voices. It’s amazing! Although we had waited for quite a long time before we entered the hall, I think it is well worth seeing with your own eyes.

I like painting, so my parents took me to the France Pavilion to see the famous paintings. But the French cooks caught my eye. I saw them cook. My mom told me that they are some of the best cooks in the world. The dish they cooked looked like a painting. So, being a cook is my second dream job.

You probably know you should say” please” and “thank you ” at restaurants. You probably know the rules of a library. You know you should respect and be nice to your classmates. But do you have music manners?

Keep It Down! You have to notice the volume of your music. You should not play your music so loud that everyone around you can hear it. Some people might even get angry. Usually, when you play the music loud on an MP3 player, other people can’t hear the words of the song. They just hear a loud sound. Not one wants to listen to this. Very loud music can also be bad for your ears, so even if you are alone when listening to our MP3 player, you shouldn’t have it turned up too high.

Take Them off! You need to know when to turn your MP3 player off and put it away. Libraries and schools don’t allow MP3 players. There are other places, like museums, that don’t have rules, but it would be rude to have your MP3 player on. Sometimes, it just doesn’t make sense to listen to your MP3 player at event. Why would you listen to music at a play, a movie or a sporting event? You would miss what is going on and others would wonder why you even came.

Take One Out! Once in a while it’s okay just to take out one earphone and not other. Imagine you are listening to your MP3 player when someone asks you the way. It would not be rude to take out one earphone, tell him the way, and put back the earphone and continue listening. You can also do this when you order food at a fast-food restaurant or when you answer the telephone and it’s not for you.

It’s Your Choice! There are times when you need to decide what is best. For example, some people can listen to music on their MP3 Players when read books, while others think it is disturbing. In cases like this, you need to do what seems right for you.

26.The underlined word “volume” in Paragraph Two probably means” _____.

A. the type of music B. the amount of a sound

C. the length of a song D. the colour of and MP3 player

27.No one wants to listen to _____ from others’ MP3 player.

A. a loud sound B. sad stories

C. a long movie D. the words of a song

28.We can take one earphone out when we _____.

A. show others the way B. talk to fiends on the phone

C. watch a sporting event D. have dinner with our parents

29.It’s all right to use our MPS player in _____.

A. schools B. libraries C. restaurants D. museums

篇三:The Summer Palace 作业

The Summer Palace

Hello everyone,I am your guider named Monica.Today I will accompany with you.

The Summer Palace is located on the western edge of Beijing, which is NO.1in Chinese gardens. It is up to now the best preserved and the largest imperial gardens in China.

The Summer Palace blends rocks, treess, temples, pavilions, bridges, cobble paths and large lakes to create a poetic effect between ever-changing scenes. The Summer Palace is a splendid museum of traditional Chinese garden arts and widely renowned as 'the garden of gardens'.

The main features of the Summer Palace are Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill. Like most imperial palaces in China, the Summere Palace is divided into three parts: Halls for political affairs, living quarters and religious buildings.

Occupying an area of 304 hectares, the Summer Palace features hilly and water scenery. The Kunming Lake makes up four-fifths of this royal park. The Long

Corridor running east-west along the lake as well as the Pavilion of the Fragrance of Buddha, the Sea of Wisdom, and the Hall of Dispelling the Clouds and Suzhou Street standing south to north on the Longevity Hill are the major scenic spots. The Pavilion of the Fragrance of Buddha, 41 meters high, is decorated with glazed tiles. Its walls were carved with 1,008 niches and images of Buddha. The Marble Boat at the western end of the Long Corridor is a noted structure on water. Built in 1755, the boat, having a length of 36 meters, was made completely out of marble. Now,let us have a look at the historical overview, In 1153, the Emperor of the Jin Dynasty (1115-1234 A.D) Wan Yanliang built a temporary palace here called the "Garden of Golden Waters" as his summer resort.

In the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 A.D), the palace was changed into and imperial garden.

In 1702, the Qing Emperor Kangxi (1662-1722 A.D) enlarged the garden into a temparary Palace.

In 1750, the Qing Emperor Qianlong (1736-1795 A.D) reconstructed it and called it the Garden of Clear Ripples.

In 1860, the Allied Anglo-French Force captured Beijing and burned the Palace. In 1888, the Empress Dowager Ci'xi decided to spend the money originally earmarked for the Chinese Navy and rebuilt the garden, she herself gave it its present name of Yi He Yuan (Garden of Cultivated Harmony), and the Chinese inscription of

the name was written in Emperor Guangxu's (1875-1908) handwriting.

Ever since then, the Empress Dowager Ci'xi started to spend every summer here and had it restored after it was damaged again in 1900.

The main features of the Summer Palace are Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill, it has an area of 290 hectares, approximately the size of seven Tian anmen Square, it also boasts more than 3,000 bays of various buildings in different palace and garden architectual styles. Kunming Lake consists of three forths of the whole garden.

The Summer Palace was designated a world heritage site in 1990 by UNESCO. Their website states that "the natural landscape of hills and open water is combined with artificial features such as pavilions, halls, palaces, temples and bridges to form a harmonious ensemble of outstanding aesthetic value". In December 1998, UNESCO included the Summer Palace on its World Heritage List. It declared the Summer Palace an "outstanding expression of the creative art

of Chinese landscape garden designThe Covered

Walkway and The Marble Boat are some of the best

museums in the world, such as the Louvre in France

and the Musuem of Great Britain. In a sense, it maybe

just as grand as them, if not more. Its delicacy in

design makes it a special attraction. It would be a pity

if we leave the Summer Palace without visiting the

gallery and the Marble Boat.

The Painting Walkway, more commonly known as the Covered Walkway, is one of the most important structures in the Summer Palace. It is also the longest walkway in the Chinese gardens. It is 728 metres long and it is divided into 273 sections. On the beams and crossbeams of the walkway, there re altogether over 14, 000 traditional Chinese paintings.Look at this based on a celebrated piece of writing entitled "The Story of the Source of Peach Brook" by Tao Yuanming, a great man of letters about 1,500 years ago. The story tells about a fantastic fishing trip of a fisherman in Hunan Province, central China.

One day, he went fishing and along his way. Accidentally he found a previously unknown place with peach trees all around. Men and Women there were working on fertile lands, houses were spacious and cozy in the shade of mulberry trees and bamboos. Even chickens and dogs went out to welcome him. Sweet fragrance of peach flowers intoxicat ed him. He spent some happy time there with those who had led quite a secluded life for generations. Later, other people tried all means to find it, but all efforts were in vain. The story was simply from the imagination of the author, who was eager to live a peaceful life. We think, many people still long for such a Utopian Society nowadays, don't you think so?

At last,I hope you will have a good time at the Summer Palace.

Can you imagine being(来自:www.sMHaiDa.com 海 达范文网:summer,in,the, hills) savagely attacked by a dog? What if the attack was so severe that your nose, lips and chin were completely destroyed? How would you feel about yourself? Would you be able to look at yourself in the mirror? And how do you think other people would treat you? Isabelle Dinoire is someone who can answer all of these questions honestly and openly.

Last November Isabelle was attacked and mauled by her own dog. The attack was so severe that her lower face was damaged; it seemed, almost beyond repair. She was rushed to hospital and became the first person ever to have a face transplant. With such severe injuries doctors offered Isabelle little hope that they would be able to repair the damage to her face using conventional surgery.

Shortly after being admitted, she came to the attention of Dr Bernard Devauchelle who, unlike other surgeons, believed there was an alternative: "We found ourselves saying, yes, it's clear this woman needs a transplant," he said.

Two days after the operation she saw her face in the mirror for the first time. She said, "I was scared to look at myself, but when I did it was already marvelous and I couldn't believe it.I thought it would be blue and swollen but it was already beautiful."

Now, less than a year after her 15-hour operation, she' s trying to rebuild her life and there is no doubt how she feels about her new face: "I have been saved.Lots of people write saying that I need to go on, that it' s wonderful. It' s a miracle somehow."

Although there were ethical questions raised about their decision to carry out the procedure, the doctors who operated on Isabelle are quick to defend their decision.

One of them said, "Was it possible for her to live without a face? It's easy to say we shouldn’t have done the operation, but her life has changed, she goes shopping, goes on holiday, she lives again.

56.What would be the best title of the passage? A.The First Face Transplant

I’ve been writing for most of my life. The book Writing Without Teachers introduced me to one distinction(区别)and one practice that has helped my writing processes tremendously. The distinction is between the creative mind and the critical mind. While you need to employ both to get to a finished result, they cannot work in parallel no matter how much we might like to think so.

Trying to criticize writing on the fly is possibly the single greatest barrier to writing that most of us encounter. If you are listening to that 5th grade English teacher correct your grammar while you are trying to capture a fleeting (稍纵即逝的) thought, the thought will die. If you capture the fleeting thought and simply share it with the world in raw form, no one is likely to understand. You must learn to create first and then criticize if you want to make writing the tool for thinking that it is.

The practice that can help you past your learned bad habits of trying to edit as you write is what Elbow calls “free writing.” In free writing, the objective is to get words down on paper non-stop, usually for 15-20 minutes. No stopping, no going back, no criticizing. The goal is to get the words flowing. As the words begin to flow, the ideas will come from the shadows and let themselves be captured on your notepad or your screen.

Now you have raw materials that you can begin to work with using the critical mind that you’ve persuaded to sit on the side and watch quietly. Most likely, you will believe that this will
