He is quite and shy. He doesn't smile very often, but he is friendly to others. When you talk to him about music, he will have a lot to say. This is Jay Chou, my favourite Taiwanese POPsinger.

Chou grew up with his mother. He didn't talk much and did badly in many school subjects. When he was only three, his mother sent him to learn piano, and he loved it.

Chou is not very handsome. But he is really good at music, he can write his own songs, and he never follows others.

I like Longquan best of his songs, and is moves my heart.

There are only two people in the world who can shoot an MV with the help of the army and weapons. One was Michael Jackson. Another is Jay Chou. Born in Taiwan, singer-songwriter turned actor-director. Jay Chou’s big break came when he entered a local talent show. Today his unique musical style has fans all over the world with his last album selling more than three million copies a month in Asia alone, according to CNN TALK ASIA.

He is a World Music Award-winning Taiwanese musician, singer, producer, actor, and director. The achievements of Jay is undeniable. Most people only focus on his bright appearance and success. However, how many people understand his desperate struggle before he became famous? In 1998, he was discovered in a talent contest where he showcased his piano and song-writing skills. But it was Wu Zongxian who found out his gifted in fact. After that talent show, Wu Zongxian told Jay, “ If you can write 50 songs in 10 days , I will offer you a chance to choose 10 of them and you can sing your own songs to release an album . Jay was greatly inspired by Wu Zongxian’s words and he began to be times of tireless effort and sleepless night for his writing even ate fast-noodles almost everyday in order to save time. Eventually he made it and released his first album titled JAY in 2000 under the record company Alfa Music which was a hit to the Asian Music at that time.

Since then, he has released one album per year, selling several million copies each. His music has gained recognition throughout Asia, most notably in countries such as Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, even in Australia. In 2003, Jay was on the cover of TIME. “He doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke and----he actually writes his own hits. Meet the NEW KING OF ASIAN POP” . These words are on the cover of the magazine in order to have a introduction about him to the Americans. In 2007, he was named one of the 50-most influential people in China by Forbes.

CNN TALK ASIA, explores the personalities behind the newsmakers in the fields of arts, politics, sports and business, had an interview about Jay Chou in 2008 titled: Jay Chou: Asia’s reluctant superstar. In the interview, Jay said that, “It’s the timing, the place and the people that allowed me to make a step forward ”. (have a short video)

Just being an singer is not enough for Jay , he later wrote, directed and starred in the 2007 movie Secret which made a great success not only in China, but also in Korea and Japan. He admitted he liked being in the driver’s seat: “I do think I was born to be sort of a control freak cause I always command people to do this or that.”

At the same time, with the movie The Green Hornet, he successfully got recognition in Hollywood in 2011. And he participates in the shoot of the movie “Now You See Me II ” in London.

What’s more , he owns his record company JVR Music which is named after his own name and his friend that ensures his more promising future.
