Charm of the Sea Square

Built in 1999 (constructions stared in 1996) to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the

foundation of Dalian City.The most impressive, and thus most famous, among the sculptures is the one situated in the center of the square. Almost 20 meters high, it was built in 1999 as a commemoration to the 100th anniversary of the city’s establishment. Made out of stainless steel it includes five curved pipes, 21 seagulls and 50 balls of various sizes. The 21 seagulls represent the arrival of the 21st century and the 50 spheres celebrate the 50 years of People’s Republic of China’s existence. The sculpture is designed in such a way that the visitor will imagine the pipes to be waves with the seagulls dancing to their plashing, justifying the new name of the square.

Binhai Road

Binhai Road is beside the south seashore of Dalian city, which is one of the best roads for tour. Binhai Road is 32 kilometers long, running through 12 main sceneries along the coastline. It was built in 1970s for combat readiness, which was guarded by army. Deng Xiaoping suggested to open it to tourists when he visited Dalian at the beginning of 1980s, from then on, it became a tour road. The southern section of Binhai Road start from Tiger Beach Ocean Park , end at Fu’s houses estate, which is the most famous part of this road with maximum tourists , with several excellent scenery along the way, just like “Great North Bridge”, “Birds nest mountain rang”, “Charming Moon peak”, and so on.

The Western section of Binhai Road is from Fu’s houses estate to Xinghai Square, with Fu’s estate park, silver sand-beach, white-cloud Mountain, great south pavilion, Xinghai Square along the way. This is the shortest part of Binhai Road.

The northern section of Binhai Road is from Aura-Sea Square to the front gate of Mallet

Island, which is the steepest part of this road, so that this part has a late start of exploitation. It also has lots of good sceneries along the way, like “Aura-Sea Square”, “Eighteen Bends odd slop”, “Rooftop sun rise” and so on, this part of BinhaiRoad is called “Northern Ocean Park”. Dalian Laohutan Ocean Park

Laohutan Ocean Park is situated in center Dalian city, a renowned state-level scenic area. Occupying an area of 1,180,000 square km, it has a winding coastline of over 4,000 m. Inside the park, the gorgeous seaside scenery comprises of hills and stones framed by an azure sky and sea.

The park also boasts of a Coralarium, the largest sea creatures park with coral reefs existing in their natural habitat; Polar Region Marine Animals World, the only exhibition of its typein China; World of Birds, the largest manmade birdcage in China; Tigers Sculpture Square whose tiger sculpture is the symbol of Laohutan Ocean Park; as well as Jurassic Flume Ride, which offers sea rovers, bungees, and other recreational facilities.

Xinghai Square

Xinghai Square is in the southern beach scenic area of Dalian, which is the largest city square in Asia. Xinghai Square was built for celebrating the return of HongKong.

The DIA of the square’s inner circle is 199.9 meters, and the excircle’s DIA is 239.9 meters, which means Dalian will have her five hundredth birthday in 2399.

The central part of Xinghai Square covers 45,000 square meters, it has the largest white marble pillar, whose diameter is 1.997 meter, for memorizing HongKong’s return time. There are nine dragons on the pedestal and column trunk of the marble pillar’s, which means all of people from nine states (in the ancient time, China is divided into nine states) of China are descendants of dragon. A 2.3 meters “Wangtianhou” sits on the top of marble pillar, shining with golden light. Each of the five white marble columns around the marble pillar lifts a palace lamp, with shinning effulgence.

Xinghai Square is encircled by giant musical fountain, also nine Tripod of variety shapes and forms around, each has a large Chinese character on it ,written in “Wei” dynasty handwriting, all of the characters could make up one sentence—— “Long live the great unity of Chinese people ”. Walk to the south from the central part, you could see the “ancient status of the city”. The end of it is a giant book, facing the spacious ocean, which means Dalian start a new page after hundreds of years. Correspondingly, Xinghai exhibition center is to the north of

the central square, which is a modern architecture combining expo, convention, transaction, finance and entertainment together.

Fujiazhuang

West area boasts a 500m-long Fujiazhuang bathing beach which is clean and peace and considered one of the four largest bathing places in Dalian. This tranquil area is full equipped with mountains, islands, reefs and forests. East area consists of holiday village and tourism service center, with rows of architectures scatter around the mountain ranges nearby. There’re also more than 10 beach sanatoriums around Fujiazhuang. 10 thousand of patients come here to recuperate every summer.

Zhongshan Square

Equipped not only with spectacular architectures, but also sweet melodies, it’s called Music Square as well. Clear days, people sit within the square, doing sunshine bath and smelling the faint scent around and playing games group by group. The best scenery comes when night falls, the appealing square shined with all colors of lights, with hundreds of people dancing and playing to the music.

People’s Square

People’s Square is the administration centre of Dalian. It covers an area of 125,000 square meters with meadows of 40,000 square meters. To its north lies the Dalian Municipal City Hall, and to its east and west the Police Station, Court and Procuratorate. People’s Square, combining the static meadow with dynamic water fountain, is the best place for

Youhao Square

Youhao Square is a circular closed type square, which a special giant crystal ball in its center. Founded in 1996 according to the idea of major Bo Xilai. It’s the symbol of peace and luck. The crystal ball weighs 117 tons with a diameter of 15m, the surface of which consists of 3120 piece of coated and transparent glass. And inside the ball, there are 7852 lights, green or yellow or red, which are controlled by computer to achieve all kinds of mixed colors and rolling performance.

Now we are at the Dalian Port. Dalian Port was founded in 1899; it has more than 100 years of history. At the southernmost tip of Liaodong Peninsula, Dalian Port is a non-freezing, deep-water harbor. With a wide opening, millions of tons of cargo can pass unimpeded. It connects the three provinces in the Northeast part of China. The three provinces are Helongjiang Province, Jilin Province and Liaoning Province. The Northeast part of China was once known as Manchuria. The three provinces form the economic backyard of the Dalian Port. Dalian Port is also the door to Northeast China, and it‘s the most important international trade seaport, which is the third largest in China, after Shanghai and Qin Huangdao.

In the time of occupation by Tsarist Russia, it was called Nikolayev Square; in the time of occupation by Japan, it was called the Grand Square; finally it was renamed as Zhongshan Square, in honor of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the father of China. Zhongshan was his given name in mandarin Chinese, whereas Yat-sen was his given name in Cantonese. Buildings around the square are of European classical style. One of them is the Dalian Hotel. The last Emperor of China, Pu Yi lived there for a time. Another example is the Concert Hall. Many international performances are held there every year. Most of the other buildings are banks such as the American Citibank (花旗银行), so this square is also known as the financial center of Dalian.

Now I‘ll give a brief introduction to the history of Dalian: Dalian was founded in 1899 so we now have a history of more than 100 years. 在2012年夏季的一个晚上，我带着对大连这座海滨城市的向往与憧憬，和妈妈一起登上了火车。在火车里，我异常兴奋，也可能是第一次去大连游玩的缘故吧，我总是在脑海里不断的想象着大连到底会是什么样子呢？在我心中，大连是在美丽的海边，而我的梦想，便是到海水里玩耍。

经过十多个小时的奔波，我和妈妈终于到达了大连，我们先到宾馆看房间，房间很宽敞，两张弹簧床，一张电脑桌，一盏大灯挂在天花板上，简单又不失华丽。我们把行李放好，便去了老虎滩公园，我们先去了老虎滩的极地馆，在那里，我们看到了许多稀有的动物，我最先看见的是大白鲸，虽然隔着玻璃，但是仍然能感受到它对人类的友好和亲切，向前走，又看到一个海狮，它的脸总是朝着玻璃罩，呆在那里，好像舍不得离开似的，也好像知道有人在给它照相呢。再向前走一点，又看到了一种生长在南极的动物-----企鹅，它躲在角落里一动不动，好像生气了似的。我还看到了北极熊，那胖胖的身体，蜷缩在一起，可爱了。这时，我在心里默默地想，大连这地方真好，只在一个海洋馆里，就能看到那么多来自地球两极的，也是我们平时无法看到的动物-----企鹅和北极熊，真值啊！这里还有一个卖水母的地方，那水母像个小伞一样，很好玩，我也非常喜欢，于是，我对妈妈说：“我想买一个水母。”妈妈同意了，我便买了一个水母，作为来至大 连海洋馆的留念。

然后我们又去4D环幕电影院看电影，刚坐下的时候，我很紧张，影片开始了，首先是潜往深海，刚入海的时候，溅出来的水花变成了真的，洒了我们一脸，在观看影片的过程中，还不数断有水和气向我袭来，更好玩的就是地震了，在地震时，你会感到慌乱与不安，就像真的地震一样，非常刺激。接着，我们又去了海象馆，在那里看到了很多海象。然后我们又去看了一艘军舰，它威武雄壮，使我不禁想象到当年战士们乘着军舰打仗的情景。我们还到了码头去坐船，我们坐在甲板上，望着无边无际的大海，使人心旷神怡。我不经意间回头一看，有许多海鸥飞在船尾，好像是在为我们护航，大雾朦胧，为大海抹上一种神秘的色彩。最后，我们去了鸟语林，那里有许多漂亮的鸟，我们看了一场鹦鹉表演，只要有人拿出钱，那只鹦鹉便会落在那个人的手上，好玩极了！走出剧场，我走到池塘边，看见里面有一只黑天鹅，便拿出一些事先买好的鸟食喂它，它的嘴碰到我手上时，感觉痒痒的。 走了许久，我们又看到了与鹦鹉照相的地方，我好奇心强，也与它照了一张相，当它落在我手上时，它的小爪子抓的我有些疼，可是，我却很喜欢它，怎么也不舍得放开它。

出了老虎滩，下一个旅游景点是海之韵，我们到了那里，坐上观光游览车，走上海滨路，听说那是大连最美的一条路，一路上能看到很多美丽的景观，有斗地主、小孩儿拔萝卜、狗咬屁股等。令我印象最深的是我们的祖先，亚当和夏娃的雕塑，非常可爱，然后司机带我们去体验怪坡，这怪坡可真怪，上坡时不必踩

油门，而下坡时不踩油门却下不去。对于怪坡，人们有两种解，一种是地下有磁场，还有一种是旁边的景物给人造成的幻觉。这真是大自然的魅力啊！最后要去的是无水大峡谷，这里有很多生物，但并非是真的生物，而是在峭壁上建的生物雕塑，第个雕塑都栩栩如生，像真的一样。我和妈妈跳下车就去照引，照了这个照那个，玩的不亦乐乎。“快来，和乌龟照！”、“快来，和海星照！”妈妈一会到这叫我，一会到那儿叫我，我都“忙”都死了，可是，好景不长，天竟下起雨来，把我和妈妈浇成了落汤鸡才返回。

这天的最后一站是电视塔，我们到了电视塔的最高层，向下看，除了雾，什么也没看见，哎，真是可惜！

第二天，我起来后非常开心，因为我今天要去的是发现王国，到了那里，我一眼便看见一个娱乐项目-----激流勇进，我拉着妈妈去那排队，排队的人很多，大约过了十多分钟，我们才排上，我们穿上雨衣后，上了玩激流勇进的船，船渐渐开到坡上，当到了最顶端，船“嗖”的一声顺坡滑下，溅的我们满身都是水。我和妈妈下船后，接着向前走，又看到一个名为“亚马逊漂流”的地方。这是一个圆满形的船，船上大约可以坐六个人， 在一个固定的行驶路线上漂流，我迫不急待的和妈妈坐上船，沿着小河漂了下去，在漂流过程中，有一条大蛇，当船行驶到那里时，它喷出来许多水，弄的我们身上全湿了，再穿孔机过一个山洞，便到达了目的地。

接下来，我们又玩了32米观光车和一个飞天秋千，玩的很

开心。在一个往脸上画画的地方，我花了30元钱，在我的脸上画了几只蝴蝶，好看极了！

下午的时候，我和妈妈躺在草地上，望着蓝蓝的天空，白白的云朵，心情格外舒畅，玩够了，我们便拖着疲惫的身子回到宾馆休息了。

最后一天，我们将要回家了，舅舅带我和妈妈先去了海边，实现了我的梦想——到海水里玩耍，租好游泳圈，便下海了，海水很凉，可我却只当这是冲凉水澡吧，我趴在泳圈上，任凭海浪给我冲得到处跑，玩了一小会儿，累了，我便坐在沙滩上，望着无边无际的大海，大海仿佛像一位博爱的母亲，用双手抚摸着在海水里游玩的人们，海水很清澈，清的都能目的地见海水下的海带，大海看起来很蓝，像被天空的颜色染上了一样。凉爽的海风吹在我的身上，顿时感觉神清气爽，一切的一切都如仙境一般美好。歇了一会儿，我又下了海，漂来漂去的感觉很无聊，我便像个鸭子一样的胡乱扑腾起来，无意中我却喝了一口海水，哎呀！好咸呀，由于海水太凉，不敢呆太长时间，所以玩了一会儿，我便呆太长时间，所以玩了一会儿，我便依依不舍的离开了这里。

接下来我们又去了星海公园，在这里我们玩了一个摩天轮，当到最顶层的时候，大连一部分风光便收入眼底，林立的高楼，宽阔的街道，啊！新兴的城市，可爱的大连，好美的风光啊！

玩够了，舅舅又带我们去吃烤肉，这顿我吃的很香！也许是玩的太累了，也许是有些饿了的缘故吧！

下午四点多钟，我和妈妈带着无比眷恋的深情，登上了回家的火车，离开了这座让我尽兴游玩了三天的城市——大连！

再见了，美丽的大海，再见了，可爱的海鸥，你是那样令我留恋，令我向往??
