First, I think to be a teacher is very interesting for me. I like to play with children and stay with them because of their innocence and purity, what's more, children's enthusiasm affect me and make me happy. Since I was young, I always played as a teacher,and taught my little sister their lessons. If I can be a teacher, I can stay with them all days and realize my dream. Therefore, to be a teacher is my personal favourite job.

Second, I admire this job. To be a teacher is a holy job. Teachers spend their whole life on spreading their knowledge and morality to students. Teachers waste their youth to make contribution to our nation. Teachers cultivate some great person who make beneficial to the society. For example, Confucius was a great teacher in our country, and his achievement is so great that no one can surpass him.

Third, I think to be a teacher depends on my character. I am outgoing and I have a strong responsibility. I like to communicate with others about books or something else. I used to tutor my classmates about our book theory, and I used to find some part—time jobs like tutor. my students said that I was a responsible teacher.

In conclusion, to be a teacher is my dream and I will try my best to make it come true.

My ideal job is a job which has the link with English, because my profession is english. I wish I would listen to,speak,read,and write english very well. we all know that english can be used in all walks of lifes. So I can not describe my ideal job correctly. My ideal job is to be an ordinary clerk in a big and popular company. I can’t define what I would do or what the company works for in details now. So I will just describe it in a rough way.

What is your ideal job, you may well ask, and my reply would be it has varied with time.

In primary school, for instance, my dream was to become a painter. How wonderful, I imagined to be able to portray on canvas the beauty of our world through my eyes. One in which there would be no darkness, no pain, no sadness, no discrimination but hope in abundance, a world that I was looking forward to. As time passed, though, I began to realize this ambition was destined to be thwarted. The unpalatable truth was that nobody would support me on this one. In China, daughters have, traditionally, been considered inferior in many ways to sons. Given I was born a girl in a farmer’s family, I would have been thought insane to have such illusions. Gradually, my interest turned to psychology as I felt there may be something wrong with me, my thinking being that if I became a psychologist I could not only cure myself but also help others who had suffered similarly in childhood. Not surprisingly, such an aspiration turned out to be easier said than done. Further along the road, the vision of becoming a designer sprang to mind, influenced by my dear aunt who had the knack of converting a simple bottle into the vision of a lovely flower and cutting cloth to make beautiful clothes. All this fascinated me. Few people are willing to be seen as an ordinary Joe, let alone a girl in puberty. Imagine the moment when I would wear my self-designed clothes! Fabulous!

Sadly, all of these innovative ideas had to be shelved when it was time to take stock of their feasibility and the social reality. If you ask me now, my ideal job would be to work at university as an international teacher teaching foreign students Chinese and the splendor of our culture. As working as a teacher in a public school or university in China has many benefits. Firstly, the job is secure, with the salary being guaranteed. Secondly, it offers two extended holiday periods each year, something people in other occupations might be envious of. What is more, by communicating with students, I will feel as young as them and adopt their positive attitude. Besides, teaching, itself, means something to me. You can teach and learn at the same time! From my perspective, the future is bright, although everyday life may be fraught with difficulties. That said, a lot more effort is required on my behalf in order to qualify as an international teacher.

(PS: This essay( 1st edition) was written in 2011, when I was a freshman in university.

A friend helped me to correct my essay recently. It is interesting to look back and reflect on the past. In some ways I have not changed much but in others I have. It would seem I changed my mind a lot whilst at the same time staying true to my principles and identity. I am eager to learn about myself.)
