A great number of people have to stay at home for fear of the poisonous air caused by the haze.

Smog contains many harmful chemical substances and microbes which can cause people to get sick and are harmful to lung.Ozone is a major component of smog,and exposure to it has been linked with a greater risk of lung irritation,asthma,heart attacks and death.

In order to avoid the damage of smog,we should try to be less in outdoor activities .If you have to go out,wear masks to protect yourself.We must do something to improve the quality of air.Start from us,advocating individuals around of us to protect the environment,I believe our environment must will be better.

Good morning everyone! At first, let me introduce myself. My name is Yue Zhao, major in Oil and gas engineering.

I want to start my presentation with some questions. That is what do you think about Beijing’s weather? Is it good or terrible? Which is the most terrible weather?

Yes, recently years, a new type of weather disturbing us frequently. That is the Haze weather. And we can see in the picture, the haze weather destroy our beautiful life! Concern about the haze, I believe all of us here have miserable experiences about it as we live in Beijing. A thick

layer of toxic fog obscure the blue sky and keep out lovely sunshine. And we have to stay inside at autumn, on which we used to enjoying the beautiful outdoor landscape.

So, what is haze? Haze is air pollution in which is mix up with poisonous gas, dust, smoke and other dirty particles(微粒). This noxious smog would be harmful to health and cause many diseases, such as asthma (哮喘), allergy (过敏), pneumonia(肺炎) and lung disease. So, now mask became an indispensable in our daily life. Last, dense haze increasing the rate of car accidents. On the road people drive slowly because they could not see clearly.

So why cleanly fog turn to be poisonous haze? There are three main reasons to explain it. To begin with, the increase of cars in the city area plays an important role. The cars send off a lot of poisonous gases, as we can see in my PPT, the gases consist of dust, sulfide(硫化物), nitrogen oxide etc, which is main constituents of haze. Another reason is industrial fuel burning. We know Businessman just go for economic interests and ignore the environmental pollution. And with China's economy is developing rapidly, it is unavoidable to sacrifice the environment. Finally the coal-fired in daily life also contribute to the form of haze, especially in winter. That’s also the reason why haze weather is more common in winter.

Since we know the reasons that cause haze weather, we can offer some solutions. Firstly, I suppose the most direct and effective way healing the environment is

to reduce the number of the cars and industrial soot emissions. Then one simple example can illustrate the effect of it. The APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) leaders’ meeting had just over in Beijing. During the meeting we enjoy a rarely continuous good weather with blue sky, fresh air and lovely sunshine. Because the government had took many measures in this period. such as banning vehicles and suspending the factory. Secondly, if dealing with the problem at source, the developing of energy-saving technology and renewable energy seems necessary. The government should increased investment in the research of it. There’s no disputing that developing this will benefit of our future generations. Thirdly, The government should enact more strict laws and regulations to regulate person's daily action and the industrial production. And the environmental awareness of every citizen should also be enhanced.

As a citizen of china, what should every of us do to contribute to solve haze? I think we should go to work or school with the public traffic, such as the bus and the subway. Furthering, using clean efficient energy products can be really beneficial. Now we can choose electric vehicles

instead of general vehicles. And solar power products are also good choices. Moreover, as victims of haze, we also need protect ourselves. Mask is indispensable and we should be more careful with our health.

Since we have awareness of the harmful of haze weather, then let’s try our best to protect the environment. What we should do is doing every small useful things in daily life and calling on the people we meet to protect the environment. I believe through our continuous efforts, we finally

will enjoy the fresh air, blue sky and sunshine everyday!
