篇一:英汉汉英翻译学习 译后感

至今为止,已经学了一个学期的翻译基础。虽说未涉及汉译英的学习,但从过去这一学期对英译汉理论与实践的学习,我深知翻译并非一件容易的事。对我来说,学好翻译这门课程并将其运用到实践中去,任重而道远。

在未上翻译课之前,每每听人提及翻译,以为就只是单纯的两种语言的转换;谁知经过一个学期的翻译课学习,才知道自己竟是大错特错了。当代英国翻译理论家纽马克的翻译理论及其语言六大功能(表达功能、信息功能、祈使功能、人际功能、审美功能、元语言功能),我国翻译家严复的“信、达、雅”三大翻译标准等,让我更进一步了解什么是翻译。

对于我们初学者来说,在进行翻译活动时,除了要遵循翻译的两大原则(忠实、通顺)外,还要注意直译与意译、异化与归化等翻译技巧的运用。否则,翻译时,容易出现“翻译腔”。如;And so you shall be my darling----when l tell you!译文一:当我告诉你的时候——我的宝贝,你会知道的。 译文二:那你等着吧——等到我告诉了你,你就懂得了! 这两种翻译中,第一种机械地模仿原文,不知变通,是典型的“翻译腔”。而第二种摆脱了原文的结构束缚,用符合目的语的语言表达形式再现了原文的意义和精神。

此外,对一些翻译技巧(如:词类转换法、重复法、正反反正翻译法、抽象与具体转换法、抽词拆译法、增词语省略法、物称人称转化法、形合意合转换法、视点转换法等)的学习及反复练习,也让我在学习的同时发现并总结出一些翻译时常出现的问题。如:的、地、得的正确使用(美丽的太阳花、吃力地行走、高兴得手舞足蹈);量词的正确使用(一只小熊、一头大熊、一个熊妈妈);标点符号的正确使用(注意句子的停顿);“so·····that”不能译成“如此·····以至于”可译成“那样·····因此or所以”;“when·····”不能译成“当······时”;人的mate译成“伙伴”,动物的mate译成“配偶”,而人的“配偶”是spouse;“go down the wind”译成顺着风走,“go up the wind”译成逆着风走;定语从句的译法:分片 ——逐个译出——理解大意——调整语序。

另外,长句的翻译也是一大难点。像顺序法、分译法、逆序法、综合法等长句翻译方法都可用于翻译中,才能译出更好的译文。

与汉语习惯不同,在英语中,为了避免重复,通常用同义词、近义词代替前文出现过的词。同时,英语中通常用大量的连词,是句子更紧凑,而汉语恰恰相反。因此,在英译汉时,要尽量避免将关联词“和、所以、因此、而且····”翻译出来。

我深知自己基础比较薄弱,因而在学习时也比较吃力,但我不会因此而自暴自弃,相反,我会加倍努力,尽自己最大的努力学好翻译这门课程。

关于英译汉的几点感想

翻译是一门艺术,也是一种再创作。严复在《天演论·译例言》里首次提出了“信、达、雅”的翻译标准,奠定了我国翻译的理论基石。信,即忠实(faithfulness)。我非常同意这一点,因为这是一个译者基本素质的体现,亦是对原创作者的一种尊重。但翻译仅仅做到“信”是不够的,“达”,即流畅(expressiveness)是翻译的基本要求,而“雅”,即文字优美典雅(gracefulness)是译者翻译水平高低的集中体现。要做到“达”,就要看译者遣词造句的功力,要做到“雅”,则需要译者对目标语的文化、社会有相当的了解。要做到达、雅,则不可避免的凝聚了译者本人对相关问题的理解和看法,无疑是对原著的一种再创作。所以,好的译者在做到达、雅的同时,尽可能的贴近作者原本的意思。 英译汉是有相当难度的,因为这是两种完全不同类型的文字。汉字是一种象形文字,英文则是一种音节文字。汉语重“意合”,句子结构松散,多短句,富有音韵美;英语重“形和”,因而句子结构严密,层次整齐,逻辑性强。但同时,英译汉却有着相当大的创作空间,因为汉语是如此的美丽,同样的意思,用英文表达可能只有一种表示方法,但用中文却可以有多种不同意境下的表达方式。如死,用英语,即die,中文则可用“驾鹤西去”、“仙逝’”、“翘辫子”等。作为一名翻译的初入门者,我不求达到“雅”,但求做到“信”、“达”。下面我会从“遣词”、“造句”两个方面,以吴象婴、梁赤民对《全球通史》中“中国文明”的翻译为例,提出我的几点想法。

一、 遣词

我所看的这几段英文原著,主要介绍了中国的儒学、道学、和法学。吴象婴和梁赤民翻译的最大特点是appropriateness(合适),他们的翻译在保持译文通顺的基础上,极大地贴合中文的语言习惯。如let the ruler be a ruler and the subject a subject;let the father be a father and the son a son,这里被巧妙地被翻译为“君君、臣臣、父父、子子”,而不是“统治者就是统治者,被统治者就是被统治者;爸爸就是爸爸,儿子就是儿子”。

第二大优点是细致,不漏掉任何一个英文单词可能会表达的意思。如while taoism,absorbing all sorts of popular superstitions and demon lore,became the religion of the uneducated masses and was tolerantly despised by the Confucion literati.对于该句,我的翻译是“然而道学,吸收各种社会流传的迷信和鬼怪说法,成为无知大众推崇的宗教,并被儒家学者所蔑视。”我犯了马虎大意的毛病,漏译了tolerantly这个词,还有“无知大众”这种译法有侮辱大众的嫌疑,而吴、梁的译法却没有这些问题,“道教因为吸收了民间流传的各种迷信和有关精灵、恶魔的传说,成为未受过教育的群众的宗教,虽然受到儒家文人学士的鄙视,但也得到了一定的宽容”。此种译法简单明了,让人听着也舒服。

吴、梁翻译的另一大优点是diversification(多样性),多样性其中一个方面就是词性的活用。如they viewed the nobility as an anachronism to be replaced by

state military force,吴、梁翻译为“他们认为贵族的存在已不合时宜,要用国家的军事力量予以清除”,这里将 anachronism 译为“不合时宜的”,而实际上这个词是名词,意思是“时代的错误”,此处体现的一个翻译技巧就是词性转换。

两位前辈还让我欣赏的一点则是他们对单词时态的把握。如Legalism was discredited and Confucianism,as noted,was enthroned permanently as the official creed.正译为“法家学说信誉扫地,而儒家学说则如前所述,被长期推崇为官方的教义”。这里值得一提的是译者对noted的翻译,照顾到note的过去分词形式。

二、造句

为了让翻译出来的中文可以有“意合”的效果,所以吴象婴、梁赤民在翻译中特别注重将长句子分译,将几个短句子合译,使得翻译出来的句子通顺,富有中文特有的美感。

翻译长句子时,首先要弄清原文的句法结构,找出整个句子的中心内容及各层次的意思,然后分析各层之间的逻辑关系,再按口语的特点和表达方式,正确地译出原文的意思,不拘泥于原文的形式。如They were practicing stetesmen rather than philosophers and were interested in reorganising society in order to strengthen the princes they served and to enable them to wage war and unite the country by force,该句很长,光and就有三个,共包含着五层意思,译者也是将一个长句分为五个短句来翻译的,即“法家人物都是些注重实践的政治家,而不是哲学家;他们关心的是改革社会,以加强他们所奉事的诸侯的力量,使诸侯们能进行战争,用武力统一国家”,意思清楚,却又不显得冗长。

翻译几个短句子时,可以分析短句之间的内部联系,达到整合翻译句子的目的。分译法和合译法其实是一致的,所以在这里就不再赘述。

诚然,吴、梁的翻译已经很棒了,但我还是想对译文提出我的几点疑问。第一点就出自like Plato,he wanted the kings to be sages,and this they could be if they could be if they possesed the five virtues of a gentlemen—integrity,righteousness,loyalty,altruism,and love,or human-heartedness.该句中,译者将gentlemen翻译为“绅士”,这点本没有错,但我觉得此处最好翻译为“君子”,因为在中国古代是没有“绅士”这种说法的,世人一般以君子的行为规范来要求自己,绅士是欧美的说法。第二点疑问出自while the ideal ruler “keeps the people

without knowledge and without desire?and fills their stomachs?By non-action nothing is ungoverned.对于该句,吴、梁的译法是“而理想的统治者则是‘清心寡欲地治理人民??填饱肚子。?无为而治’”,而我觉得应该译为“理想的统治者要通过愚民、禁欲、利诱的手段来达到无为而治的目的”。两种翻译最关键的区别是前者将without kowledge and without desire 来修饰the ideal ruler ,而后者则是用其来修饰the people。很显然,without kowledge and without desire是紧跟在the people之后的,不应该是修饰the ideal ruler的。所以我认为两位前辈在此处的翻译是错误的。

总之,上海社科版的《全球通史》的翻译还是十分严谨的,其中蕴含的翻译技巧是值得我学习的,在翻译的漫漫长路中我还是要继续努力,以期学到更多,做到更好。

《硬汉》是一部前所未见的电影,至少在华语电影中未曾见过这般刚猛且有率真的作品,导演丁晟竟然用一个脑残人士做主人公,做法等同于《阿甘正传》中的傻子阿甘看美国历史一般,《硬汉》中的也是通过傻子老三的傻眼看世界,很单纯但也很直接。

老三是一个什么样的人?这个刘烨饰演的主人公,真名是叫王涛的退伍海军拥有一身好功夫,服役时因为抢救落水的战友,大脑在水中因缺氧而造成创伤,本来就很单纯的老三这下回复到了8岁左右的智商,他变傻了,但也变得更加执着了。老三似乎天生就是忌恶如仇,退伍后每天更是加紧锻炼体魄和练习武功,每遇坏人坏事必当挺身而出,行为作风基本上等同于蜘蛛侠一类的英雄人物,老三从来都是做好事不留名,打败恶势力后变急速离去,让这位现代侠客在警方看来更富有神秘色彩。

这看起来像是一个都市童话,但导演让老三这个人物变得异常的真实可信,何解?因为老三的脑部受伤了,他只能简单地分析事物的对与错,这让他的铲奸除恶的行为具备了一定的理论依据,在这个物欲横流人人贪图享乐的年代,恐怕真的只有老三这样的傻子才会去干吃力不讨好的事情,他坚信这尘世间有一种力量,是为了消灭邪恶而存在的,那就是他,老三!

不要认为老三是单纯的傻瓜,他的战斗经验要比很多正常人丰富,因为他是一名退伍军人,在军队中经历了千锤百炼,即便是不能和世人比比圆滑的头脑,但是一身武艺是不会被海水给侵蚀的,智力受损的老三更加专注于练武,他钢铁一般的体魄为他打击恶势力提供了现实依据,凭借着宁折不弯的一根筋,老三打击恶势力是毫不手软的,也是绝不会退缩的。因为老三的一味拼打,也同样埋下了很多恶果,所有旁观者都会预料到,他迟早会吃大亏的,因为他不仅思想简单,而且他还是孤家寡人一个。

但凡是正邪相对的电影,警察是必不可少的元素,本部影片中的警察并非是摆设了,尤勇饰演的刑警队长是个有勇有谋的精英角色,这对于经常扮演警察的尤勇来说是驾轻就熟的,虽然他这个角色没有太多惊喜,但对于影片还是起到了画龙点睛的作用。因为这位刑警队长老蒋其实也是作为老三的对立面出现的,这是导演安排的暗中较劲的角色,老蒋是头脑冷静的老刑警,对待坏人也是绝不手软,但老蒋讲的策略,他是通过法律允许的手段来惩治坏人,和老三那种莽打莽撞完

全不同,编导是想通过这两种截然不同的硬汉角色给予观众一种好坏的评断,让观众自己去选出心目中的理想硬汉,因为这两位硬汉都有其各自的优缺点,但老三还是显得更为可爱和立体一些。

这部电影中当然也少不了几位反派的搅局,黄秋生率领的国际盗窃团伙就是电影中最大的反派,其他也出现了不少蝇营狗苟,基本上都被老三的铁拳和红缨枪制服了,但唯独黄秋生饰演的大坏蛋阿龙把老三给唬住了,阿龙自嘲是“好人中的坏人”,表面上看起来衣冠楚楚,实际上也是干得违法乱纪的事情,他想要盗取在博物馆里展出的岳飞使用过的“沥泉枪”,结果和正义凛然的老三狭路相逢,正邪双方展开一场混战是在所难免的。

影片的喜剧效果和动作场面都值得鼓掌,导演更是突破传统地将男主人公设计的傻头傻脑,但影片却未沦落为一部低俗的喜剧,它反而成为一部感人的动作影片,这完全都要归功于导演对于主人公老三的精确定位,老三虽然傻,但其实很多事情他都是心里明白只是说不出,老三比谁都能看清这个世界,他是走在见义勇为这条路上的急先锋,世界上的很多人都是见到恶势力避之不及,但老三选择了迎头追上,他为这个社会树立了正义的标杆,虽然不能保证他的精神会感染多少人,但或许就像老三自己对着镜子说的那样:“没人帮,就算只有自己一个人,也要打!”这就是那个倔犟的老三。
