篇一:六级作文-名言

A famous remark by Abraham Lincoln goes that “Give me six hours to chop down a tree, and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” Obviously, by so saying, the late American President means that laying a solid foundation is of vital importance in achieving success.

This saying is truly inspiring and instructive, especially when it comes to our daily life and work. Take English study as an example. There are numerous failures in College English Test Band 4 or Band 6. Most of them lack a sound grasp of basic grammar and vocabulary, rushing to take model tests, only to erode their confidence or wasting their time. Others, on the contrary, do a careful and painstaking job with the study of their text books, reviewing grammatical rules and vocabulary even learnt in middle school. Though seemingly they are slow in starting their preparation for the exam, they are usually the final winners.

People tend to be impatient or too thirsty for easy success in modern society. Actually, whenever we are in haste, we should let Lincoln’s words ring by our ear and remember: no pains, no gains, and haste makes waste.

A well-known proverb goes that “where there is a will, there is a way”, which means that one can find a way to success as long as he or she has a strong will. With a strong will, one can focus all his energy on one point, which makes his success possible. Without a strong will, however, one can be easily distracted from his goal or discouraged by setbacks, which leads to his ultimate failure.

(或The proverb “where there is a will, there is a way” means that one can find a way to success as long as he or she has a strong will. With a strong will, one can focus all his energy on one point, which makes success possible. With a strong will, one can find any chance possible and make the best use of it. Also with a strong will, one can move people around him or her, thus obtaining help and hints from them.)

History abounds with examples of strong-willed figures winning success. Actually, there is no better illustration of the proverb than the deeds of Gou Jian, king of Yue in ancient China. Defeated by Fu Chai, king of Wu, Gou tried every means

possible to steel his will. Eventually, with the help of Fan Li and Xi Shi, he managed to rebuild his country and his armies and had Fu Chai taste the bitterness of failure.

In short, a strong will is essential if we want to make achievements in our studies or work, or indeed in any other aspect of our lives. One should lose no chance to strength his will and remember, God helps those who help themselves.

篇三:大学英语六级考试作文预测:名言警句型

大学英语六级考试作文预测:名言警句型 英语六级考试已经近在眼前,各位考生在复习英语六级作文时,更应该掌握复习技巧,多看范文,勤加练习。

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic A Curse Can Be a Blessing in Disguise. You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.

范文:

A Curse Can Be a Blessing in Disguise

A famous saying goes that “A curse can be a blessing in disguise”. Simple as the saying is, its meaning is profound and thought-provoking. Evidently, it is meant to tell us that unfavorable conditions can one day prove to be favorable ones ant that we should not be indulged in depression after we have met setbacks.

Actually, history abounds with examples to prove this saying. Taking a look around, we can also find examples too many to enumerate. Here I can think of no better illustration of the proverb than the experience of my own. Though performing well enough in the college entrance exam, I was only provided with the opportunity to eoll in a second-class university. However, I did not lose my heart. Instead, I found the remoteness and quietness of the campus a favorable condition for my study. In terms of English, I have passed CET-4 with a high score. Now I believe I can do the same with my CET-6.

Bringing what has been discussed into a conclusion, we may say that a curse can also turn into a blessing. So, one should not indulge himself in bitterness and complaint after he meets setbacks. What he really has to do is to seek opportunities and turn adversities into favorable conditions. In a word, we should truly understand the profound meaning of the proverb and take the right actions in our life and work in the future.
