Are Environmental Risks Worth Taking? Definitely not! Environmental risks are not worth taking at all.
Only some hundred years ago, men lived in harmony with the nature. Unfortunately, nowadays this harmonious relation does not exist any more since men, due to their greed and short-sightedness, have done and are still doing a lot of damages to the environment.
Pollutions, increasing natural disasters, diseases, let's just name a few – more and more people are suffering from the damaged environment. Men are reaping what they have seeded. Don't you ever recall what life is like when the mountains are not bald but covered with trees, the rivers clear for people to swim in and the stars spark above for children to wonder about?
Some may argue that the present situation is just temporary. With improved technology people can come up with ideas to cure the environment and perhaps make it even better. Good wishes! But it is generally agreed that to conserve the environment is much easier and costs less than restoring it after destruction. Moreover, the future is unpredictable. No one could claim with complete confidence that people would find ways or find ways in time to deal with the environmental problems.
As far as I can see, people have interfered too much in the environment. When talking about development, environment protection shall come first, especially for those developing countries who are sacrificing the environment for economic growth. Only one earth do we have. Any risk to it should be taken with caution.
