篇一:2013七年级上Unit2 My Dear Parents

My Dear Parents

If anybody asks me, ?what is your most important thing in your life?” My answer isn?t myself, money, my future lover, or…, but my parents. I love them. Although I never said that words to them, I think we seldom said that words to each other, but we know we love each other. I can remember that

when I was a small girl, my parents took me everywhere I wanted … In my memories, my mother always covered her five fingers in my arse. Now I?m an adult, I sometimes told my relatives that she used to be a cruel mother.

And she explained that how mischievous I used to be, and she was so worried about me. Though, she was a bit strict when I was young, and a bit talkative

nowadays. But I still think she is the most beautiful woman in my mind. Even though she is getting older, she always wears fashionable clothes and shoes.

She is so active and beautiful, I think. But I don?t like the sentence she always tells me, it just like defiance, “Dear! Look, your Mom has so

nice finger!” Oh, of course I admit that she really has so nice finger. But your know, never tell girls

(especially fat girls) how nice your finger is, please! That?s my Mom, a fashionable woman. I love her!

My Dad, a humorous “big Boy”, he loves me very much, and also my Mom. Although I?m 20 years now, he always calls me in a sweet voice. Sometimes I

really couldn?t stand it, but if he didn?t call me in that way, I couldn?t bear much more, I think! Perhaps he seldom taught me a lesson, so I remembered the only

four times he beat me, and I remembered very deeply. Every time I recalled these four times, he always said, “Oh, no! You still remember that, why do you

have so good memory? But do you remember I was you “nianbu” in winter? Do you remember I enclasp you through the whole night just because you crying all

the time? Do you remember…? “I?m afraid I can?t, Dad! “Oh, No!” I love my Dad, and I know that he loves me so deeply, because I?m his little princess. Everybody

says that I have a warm family. We like friends but not like the traditional parents and children. Whatever, I like my family, I love my parents, and I?ll love them

forever, even the next transmigration!

第一节 (共15小题; 每小题2分, 满分30分)

A

I lost my dear mother suddenly on August 9th, 2010. It was shocking to me and my family as we love her so

much. I went home to the Philippines to say goodbye to my mother. The second day I was back, early in the

morning, my cousin, Elvis, and I were talking about my mother in my bedroom and I started crying. Then

suddenly out of nowhere a colorful butterfly landed on my cheek and then flew away. We looked for her but could

not find her any more. I started to cry again as I felt like the butterfly kissed me on my cheek and I thought of my

mother. I told my sisters and they told me that maybe it was our mother that welcomed me home and comforted

me. I was so touched by this experience.

My youngest brother also had an experience about two butterflies that landed on his hands when he was

getting a drink. He said that it was probably Mom that said something to him. I looked on the website and it says

two butterflies mean “love”. I went to work that day and I did have a chocolate box with a butterfly picture on top

of it and also a card with a butterfly on it from my co-worker at my desk. Then the next day my other friend at

work gave me chocolates and a card also with a butterfly on it. They were both so touched when I told them about

my experience back home. Another of my co-worker gave me this butterfly (real one) inside a glass which was

from Brazil after I told her about my butterfly story. I just love these beautiful creatures from God and I will be

collecting butterflies from now on.

B

We’ve seen a lot of changes in the 40 years that Earth Day has been celebrated, and one gradual change is in

the cars we drive. Right now, being smart about fuel-efficiency (油效) is what’s hot in the car market.

The Smart car started in Europe and is now catching up in America. With all of our environ-mental concerns

today, it just makes sense to save on gasoline and have a clean, fuel-efficient vehicle.

The Smart car has changed hands a few times since the early 90s, but it’s now owned by Mercedes Benz and

made with economy and safety in mind. You can take it out on the highway and get going up to 90 mph, while

getting up to around 45 mpg of gas. The 1-liter engine helps save on fuel, plus the lightweight frame make it easy

to run down the road.

Another benefit—95% of the vehicle is made with recyclable parts! For example, the outside body panels (板

块) are made out of plastic, so they’re easy and relatively inexpensive to replace. And if you tire of the color you

bought last year, you can even replace all of the panels with another color for about the same price or cheaper than

a painting job.

The Smart car comes in four different models and ranges in price between $13,000 for a basic model and

$18,000 for one with all the bells and whistles (特殊性能). You can see and drive one for yourself at Towbin on

W. Sahara, or better yet—come to the Living Green Expo on April 24 & 25 at the South Point Hotel to see them,

along with dozens of other green exhibitors (展品). The event is FREE and so is parking. Who doesn’t want to be

smarter when it comes to taking care of the planet? I know I do. 359. The passage mainly aims to ______.

A. introduce a fuel-efficient car

B. celebrate the coming of Earth Day

C. explain the situation of the car market

D. express concerns about the environment

40. Which of the following is TRUE of the Smart car?

A. It has a history of more than 50 years.

B. It sells well in the market worldwide.

C. It is designed to be safe and comfortable.

D. It’s helpful in protecting the environment.

41. At the Living Green Expo, visitors ______.

A. have to pay for parking their cars

B. can recycle their used cars for free

C. can drive the Smart car for themselves

D. have the chance to see many other green cars

42. It’s implied in the second paragraph that ______.

A. the Smart car was first produced in America

B. the Smart car meets the demands of the times C. the prices of gasoline have been rising too quickly D. it will be long before the world economy improves

A Greenville man was put in prison on Friday after he tried to jump from a freeway overpass (立交桥), causing a traffic jam that led to the death of a man who was on his way to work.

Jack Eugene Duval Jr., 36, climbed onto the Wesley Street overpass on Interstate 30 in Green-ville on Tuesday morning. Police came and tried to stop him, leading to a mile-long traffic jam. Jerry P. Garner, 64, crashed into a slow-moving truck in the traffic jam. Garner died at Parkland Memorial Hospital.

Police persuaded Duval to come down after four hours on the overpass. He could be charged (指控) with blocking a highway passageway. The Department of Public Safety is looking into the crash.

Kevin Herbert, a pastor (牧师) at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Greenville, said, “Garner’s family held no ill will toward Duval. They could be very angry with Duval, but they’re showing a lot of kindness,” Herbert said. “They’re very glad that the gentleman didn’t jump from the bridge.”

“Among Garner’s survivors is Regina, a 9-year-old girl. He and his wife had adopted her as a baby,” the pastor said. “She is struggling with grief,” Herbert said. “She’s a daddy’s girl.” Garner’s son, Stephen Garner, said the drive on I-30 was one his dad took to work every day.

“My dad was a very kind man,” Stephen Garner said. “He would not have wanted that guy to jump. My mom and family feel the same. I’m not angry, but I feel my dad would be here if it wasn’t for this ... I thought I’d sit down and have coffee with my dad when we got older, but now I won’t do that.”

Due to the growth of the organic (有机的) food market in Europe, more and more African producers turn to organic agriculture. Traditional methods are used in organic farming, which don’t harm the environment. Furthermore, this type of farming particularly suits a large number of small farmers in Africa.

Traditional African agriculture is naturally organic because it is free of chemicals. Most African farmers, who practice organic agriculture, grow most of their basic food crops for their family or village. They don’t hold any organic certificate (认证) because they don’t need it in such a case.

Nearly 5,000 West African farmers are now able to take advantage of the growing popularity of organic foods in industrialized countries thanks to an FAO program that has helped them meet a necessary certificate. The

certificate is necessary for those who want to export their products. About 880,000 hectares have already been certified as “organic”. They are managed by more than 470,000 small African farmers. The largest certified organic growers on the continent are Tunisia, Uganda, South Africa and Tanzania.

On organic food markets farmers first must go through a period during which they usually suffer higher costs as a result of using new organic techniques without yet getting the higher prices for their products. FAO programs in Africa helped farmer groups and small exporters conquer these difficulties and take advantage of the organic food market. They increased their technical skills and improved product quality, which enabled farmers to get organic certification.

“Their economic situation (经济状况) has greatly improved because they can now sell their products on international markets at much better prices—something they could not even dream about only three years ago”, said the FAO.

47. Why do many Africans choose organic farming?

A. To greatly reduce the cost of farming.

B. To have a bigger harvest for big families.

C. To offer themselves more healthy food.

D. To meet the organic food need in Europe.

48. Most African farmers have no organic certifi-cate because ______.

A. it costs too much money

B. it seems meaningless to them

C. they don’t know how to apply for it

D. they use too many chemicals in the field

49. The FAO program helped African farmers to ______.

A. grow more new varieties of crops

B. get out of traditional farming methods

C. raise production by using new chemicals

D. get organic certification for their products

50. At first African farmers’ organic products ______.

A. have worse harvests than before

B. become popular for their high quality

C. are refused by European people

D. don’t have higher prices as expected

Every time I saw Joe, he was smiling. It didn’t matter whether he had to stop at a stop light, or if he was the seventh person in line at the bank. Joe always smiled.

Having observed Joe with other people, I noticed something else. Joe asked people how they were doing, and really seemed to listen to their answers. He showed pity to someone who was hurting. It made me think. What if I tried to smile more? I smiled as I went up and down the store and people I didn’t even know smiled back at me. Some even spoke! The little kid in the cart who was giving his mother a hard time saw me smile and stopped talking and then made a shy little attempt at a smile. The man in the cart for the disabled needed help to reach something and I got that for him.

As I drove home, I was smiling. Now I know a smile is a small thing. What I learned was that such a small thing could lift not only my spirits, but those around me.

For most of the parents, it’s no easy job to keep their children away from the PC monitor. Let’s look at the picture above. Two people are standing in front of a computer, whose monitor is wearing underwear. The woman is staring at the computer, thinking while the man is telling him that there are three ways to make the Internet safer for her children---hardware, software and underwear.

It may be ridiculous to cover the PC monitor with someone’s underwear, but it shows vividly how desperate parents get when faced with the problem. Concerned about their children’s security, some of them just cut off the access to the Internet at home -“the hardware solution”; some choose to use a certain software program to prevent their kids from getting on line –“the software solution”; others may make some rules to limit the time their children spend on the Internet -“the underwear solution”!

From my point of view, this phenomenon calls for the attention of the whole society. On one hand, the government should make laws to inspect the Internet and ban unhealthy websites. On the other hand, it is better for parents to give their children a proper guide instead of just prevention. Teenagers need to be taught how to distinguish good from bad. Only in this way can the Internet be made safer for

右图描绘的是目前许多孩子的苦恼,请你根据对下面这幅漫画的理解用英语写一篇短文,描述一下造成这种现象的原因并发表你的看法。

The picture shows the helplessness facing many children in China. You will understand better “Too much work makes Jack a dull boy”. He has to go to so many training classes besides his school classes. He is forced to put aside what he really likes. Life is no fun at all for him. Holidays and weekends have become dull work-days. He is too tired to learn these lessons well with no interest.

This is a satirical cartoon which describes vividly a kind of common phenomenon facing many children. As we all know, many families have only one child, so parents put

much expectation on children. They want to equip their children with all kinds of knowledge and skills so that children can be well prepared for the challenges of the future.

In my opinion, spare-time training courses are a waste of time for many students. They might do better when they show interest in what they are learning. Please don’t force these students to do what they are not willing to, and when learning is fun, surely they will do better than we expect!

请根据下面两幅图画用英语写一篇短文,描述自己家乡的变化,并谈谈自己的看法。

注意:1. 词数:100字左右。2. 可以适当发挥,以使短文连贯;3. 开头已为你写好,不计入总词数。

This summer, I went to my hometown and found it changed a lot.

In the past, my hometown was a very beautiful one. A river running through our village used to be very clean with many fish in it. Tall and straight trees, beautiful flowers and green grass could be seen everywhere. People lived a poor but simple life.

Nowadays, however, with the development of modern society, people are living a “happy” life. Many tall buildings are found on both sides of the river, but the river has been badly polluted. More boats can be seen on the river, but there are few fish swimming in it. The living environment is becoming worse and worse!

I think it’

s time that we should take action and do something to protect our living.

Alfred has written to his sister, "Dear Nell, just a postcard to let you know I have not forgotten you. On the other side you will see our orders for next week. I will need your pity. Write to me, your brother Alfred." Sadly, Alfred was killed in a flight in 1918 before the card arrived. Years later, his sister died in 1964. The postcard is marked 1916 and again September 2010 when it was stamped to arrive. But the postman couldn't find the receiver any more. The post office said it was out of the question that the card was with them all that time. They regularly cleaned out their offices and post boxes. Tug-of-war(拔河) is not only popular in China, but in many other countries. Their tug-of-war match is a little different from ours. They have eight men for each team, while we may have the match between two sides with equal men or women players. Of course, they are usually tall, strong and heavy.

For a tug-of-war match, we need a long thick rope. Each team stands at one end of the rope, holding it. Then they try to pull the centre of the rope, marked in the ground towards each of their own sides. The team which succeeds in pulling the centre of the rope away through a certain distance is the winner.

Many foreign sports experts think we don't have to be tall, heavy and strong to play tug-of-war. We don't have endless energy, for a match lasts only a few minutes. The secret is good hands. The players must have big, strong, hard hands. Before they start the match they put mixture of oil and petrol on their hands so they can hold the rope better.

Many foreign experts say the best hand for tug-of-war belong to the sons of farmers. This is because they have to work hard when they are still very young. Farming is a good practice for this sport!

My secret of staying young is quite simple: devote your attention to the part of you that's young and growing your brain. Keep your mind awake and you will stay young all over. These are exciting times. Take an interest in the world around you, and make a point of learning one new thing every day.

No matter how old you are, it's not too late to make your life more interesting. I know a housewife without knowledge in the past who made herself into an excellent industrial designer. I know an old electrical engineer who has become a highly paid artist.

Get over the idea that you are too old to go back to school. I know a man who entered a medical college at 70. He got his degree with honours and became a famous doctor. Another man went to a law school at 71 and now is an active lawyer.

No matter how old people are, staying young is easy for those who live in the future. You can do it if you are active enough to try. Keep your mind active and awake: that's the only youth elixir.
