奥组委市场开发部负责人３日在此间举行的新闻通气会上介绍，北京奥运会吉祥物发布后，北京奥组委就同期推出了吉祥物特许商品的临时销售方案，以满足群众的购买需求。

据了解，北京奥运会吉祥物将从１２日开始在全国各地北京奥组委授权的特许商品零售店销售。吉祥物特许商品的类别主要有玩具、服装服饰、箱包、文具、贵重金属纪念章、徽章等六大类近３００种。其中既有面向少年儿童消费群体、价格仅为８元一支的吉祥物荧光笔，也有面向高端收藏者、价值１０多万元的贵重金属纪念章。其中吉祥物玩具是本次推出特许商品的最大亮点。

北京奥组委市场开发部负责人透露，在销售网络的布局上，北京奥组委计划在现有已批准开业的２８家特许商品零售店的基础上，再增加１６０多个临时销售点，网点覆盖全国近３０个省、自治区和直辖市。北京奥组委对这些临时销售点都有统一的店面形象要求，并颁发临时销售授权证书，授权销售期限为３个月，所有临时销售点均在各地工商管理部门备案，并在北京奥组委网站上公开。

本次奥运会的吉祥物有五大特点：

Yingying's flying pose captures the essence of a species unique to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, one of the first animals put under protection in China. The selection of the Tibetan Antelope reflects Beijing commitment to a Green Olympics. Huanhuan stands in the center of Fuwa as the core embodiment of the Olympic spirit. And while he inspires all with the passion to run faster, jump higher and be stronger, he is also open and inviting. The lotus designs in Jingjing's headdress, which are inspired by the porcelain paintings of the Song Dynasty (A.D.960-1234), symbolize the lush forest and the harmonious relationship between man and nature. Jingjing was chosen to represent our desire to protect nature's gifts--and to preserve the beauty of nature for all generations. Jingjing is charmingly na?ve and optimistic. In China's traditional culture and art, the fish and water designs are symbols of prosperity and harvest. And so Beibei carries the blessing of prosperity.
