Is Chinese Handwriting in Danger?

Zhang Li la 25-year-old office worker from a big company, worries about Chinese handwriting skills.“I used my computer to write e-mails. I use my cell phone to send text messages to friends. It is so easy for me to forget how to write Chinese characters.

Zhang Li is not alone in her worries. There are growing concerns that modern communication devices are threatening writing skills in many languages. Experts specifically worry about Chinese handwriting, an art from nearly 4,000 years old.

Technology’s impact

More and younger Chinese are relying on computers, cell phones and other electronic tools to communicate. Over the time, they become unable to recall stroke order to write some characters. So writing by hand become more and more difficult. Today only a small number of people still practice calligraphy.

Saving a tradition

A reason survey shows that 95 percent of adult Chinese citizens write by hand less than four letters per year. The same group receives an average of 20 e-mails per week.

Despite concerns, many people remain positive about the handwriting issue. “I have no regrets” LiHong, a computer teacher in rural areas, said, “ This is the natural trend of society’s progress. You use your hands less, but, you use your brains more.”

3).描述你练字的体会。

基础写作1.

The lion dance is an important traditional folk art in China whose history goes back about two thousand years. As time went by, it has formed two traditions, the Northern style and the older Southern style. It’s believed to have driven away the evil. For this reason, the dance is performed during festivities like Chinese New Year, the opening ceremonies and weddings. Standing for success and luck with rich national feature and unique traditional art, lion dance is a bright star in the galaxy of Chinese traditional culture.

基础写作2.

As you can imagine, the Chinese knot, an old kind of fork handicraft with a long history, is colorful and meaningful and has a unique shape. In addition, its more important characteristic is that it only uses one rope. On some important festivals, like Chinese New Year, people usually send Chinese knots to each other, which is a new fashion of greeting, because it represents good health, luck and happiness. Nowadays, the Chinese knot, also known as good luck knot, is popular abroad as well as at home, especially in the United States.

Seeing the Chinese knot here, I’m proud of the wisdom of the Chinese people and I’m proud of being a Chinese.

(1) Should Internet Slang Terms Be Banned?

Despite the popularity of Internet slang terms, they are supposed to be banned in Shanghai in order to regulate the use of Chinese. However, some people argue that they play an important role in enriching our national language.

As a student who enjoys surfing on the Internet, I deeply benefit from Internet slang terms because of the convenience and fun they bring. Personally, I think their special forms and the way they are used make them popular. However, inventing, abbreviating and borrowing words do harm to students as they may forget or neglect the formal language. As people in the real society, formal language is what we really need. What’s more, too many slang terms will prevent us from enjoying the beauty of the real language.

On a personal level, I advise students should have a clear picture about different languages and be sure to use the proper form of the language on different occasions as the government has advised.

(2) Should Internet Slang Terms Be Banned?

As Chinese Internet slang terms become more and more popular, Shanghai government plans to ban them in certain areas like classrooms and publications. However, young people treat them as sources of vocabulary.

On a personal level, I don’t think those slang terms should be forbidden. With the increasing number of young computer user, communicating with slang terms becomes common. The popularity of this new language has also proved that it can help keep pace with this modern world. Take me as an example. I enjoy chatting online with slang terms very much as they are much easier.

However, slang terms may lead to misunderstanding and cause troubles sometimes.

To put it clear, we should use slang terms in proper situations and only communicate with those who are sure to understand them. Only in this way can we make a balance between slang terms and our national language.

Chinese Handwriting-My Favorite

The passage tells us the fact that fewer and fewer people write by hand because of modern communication devices. It also expresses the growing concerns that Chinese handwriting is in danger, but some people are positive about it.

As we know, Chinese handwriting is part of our traditional culture and it is a kind of special art, which is worth our efforts to protect and carry on. I think it is important to practice handwriting.

In our school we have been always encouraged to improve our handwriting. We have a class on how to write Chinese characters every two weeks. Though some of my classmates feel it boring and don’t take it serious, I enjoy it very much, particularly Chinese Brush Calligraphy. Each time when I do my homework, I am very careful with my handwriting and my parents are happy about that. They always mention the Chinese saying,“ Handwriting is like the person himself.” So I believe it is necessary to practice our handwriting. 必备词汇,短语: (1). drama/play (2). comedy (3). soap opera (4). history museum (5). military museum (6). oil painting (7). paper cut/cutting (8).sculpure (9). statue (10). poetry , poem(11).poet

篇二:Dance is an art form

Dance is an art form that generally refers to movement of the body, usually rhythmic and to music,[1] used as a form of expression, social interaction or presented in a spiritual or performance setting.

Dance may also be regarded as a form of nonverbal

communication between humans, and is also performed by other animals (bee dance, patterns of behaviour such as a mating dance). Gymnastics, figure skating and synchronized swimming are sports that incorporate dance, while martial arts kata are often compared to dances. Motion in ordinarily inanimate objects may also be described as dances (the leaves danced in the wind).

Definitions of what constitutes dance are dependent on social, cultural, aesthetic, artistic and moral

constraints and range from functional movement (such as folk dance) to virtuoso techniques such as ballet. Dance can be participatory, social or performed for an audience. It can also be ceremonial, competitive or erotic. Dance movements may be without significance in themselves, such as in ballet or European folk dance, or have a gestural

vocabulary/symbolic system as in many Asian dances. Dance can embody or express ideas, emotions or tell a story. Dancing has evolved many styles. Breakdancing are related to the hip hop culture. African dance is interpretative. Ballet, Ballroom, Waltz, and Tango are classical styles of dance.

Every dance, no matter what style, has something in common. It not only involves flexibility and body movement, but also physics. If the proper physics is not taken into consideration, injuries may occur.

Both rhythmic

One day if you have chance to express, don’t hide from others, don’t hide from yourself. Just like today, you have to be brave to dance or speak. It’s your life. This is just a stage. But on our life stage, everyone is a hero. We should learn and experience as performers

Project description (100-200 words)

The design started from generating a completely black box, an abstract space that doesn’t breathe towards the outside world but keeps locked within the memory of events.

The inside was difficult to configure within a coherent unique concept, due to the existing random layout of technical areas and the criss-crossing massive steel structure. At first we tried to cover and hide the existing structure but came to realise that the best solution is to integrate the structure within the general design and to multiply it as a deformed projected image on the perimeter walls.

Over the actual structure we imposed two elements – one is the continuous strip of the perimeter walls that wraps up the entire space, comprising gaming as well as technical areas, and the other one is the artificial lighting that modifies space and in divides it. The spaces that make up the interior are thus differentiated in dynamic areas for gaming, static areas for bar and seats, intermediary areas for communication, etc.

The flux of movements in the interior space has been a major theme and the carpet was personalised as an interior map that charts the different functional areas and links between them, by the use of printed texts and paths. This adds to the fact that the entire space can be read as a communicating body that facilitates the movement within it and the reading of the separate areas.

Brief introduction (using Third-person, the event list is recommended)

PARASITE signifies for us a change of attitude. It means to refer to the project from “above”. We are interested in the conflict between old and new and not in the

integration of the design through materials and details. We believe that exactly this conflict could generate a different type of space. We are not interested in the forms of “correct architecture” because we want to make a further leap. Architecture has to start to shape space in a different way, details must be seen in a contemporary fashion, and they have to complete space instead of being the generators for architecture and theme. The lack of details of the contemporary buildings must be understood as a change of architectural attitude; architecture has not grown poorer but has become something different.

篇四:Drawing is a very basic art form

Drawing is a very basic art form. It is appealing because it can be use to make a very quick record of the ideal that the artist may be envisioning. So a drawing can serve a visible aid for the artist to remember a certain monument of inspiration and maybe use it for maybe more detailed work later on. Ok, usually such sketches allow the artist to visualize the proportion and the shapes without much attention to details. So this image can be used by painter, architects, sculptors any artist really and large renderings’ sketches parts of the whole. This can be helpful on creative process when a huge image might be more difficult to conceive of in this entirety. or a sketch just one face in the crowed can allow the artist to focus on creating just that part of image. So in many artist studios countless drawing are strewn about as the final painting or sculpture takes form. That gives us insight into creative of process as well as the opportunity to see changes from images at the beginning in the images of finish work. it is rare, in fact, for a artist to use permanent material to began a piece of art and some painters, for example, even sketch onto the surface of the canvas before applying the pigments. Now architects are especially prone to sketches because of course their buildings are so large that an images in smaller scale is necessary to the imagination and

implementation of such projects. So this study becomes basis for future works and again, this is very interesting as a record of the creative of the process. Ok so far,

Drawing has several other functions, besides as temporary reference. For centuries, artists have used drawing as traditional method of education. By copying the great works, especially of the old masters’, aspiring artist could learn lot about proportions how to capture light and shadow and so forth, in fact, some artist who later achieve recognition still continue to use this practice to hone their skills or simply to pay homage to another artist as is often the case when a work of art originally created another medium like sculpture when it is recreated in the form of drawing may examples of drawing of M sculpture were recreated by well-known artists. One may come to mind is the study of M band sly by EduD. The original by M was a marble sculpture that was about 7 feet in high. But the small drawing was make in sketchpad in any case the study is also considered in master spice and on the small scale, of course , so what additional purpose might be served by the media of drawing well let’s remember that photography as a relatively new art form so prior to the use of photograph to

record historical events. a quick drawing by an artist was about the only way to preserve the real time visual account of the important moment. Although more permanent visual impression might be rendered later, it would be based on mammary and not on the artist’s anqulopsivation probably the most often sided example of the sketch that preserved in historical record. would be the small drawing of MT as she was taken to the G in the car through the street of Paris. JD sketch this famous drawing on the piece of paper about the size of pangmanface hand and the artist, the artist dose reporter, it is still important even in modern time when photography isn’t possible, FE when judge isn’t want to permit it in court room. ok to review, we’ve talk about three functions for drawing, as visual lay for artist to complete the future work, as method of education for aspiring artist or even briskest artist, and the way to report event. But the sketchbook has other possibilities. sometimes drawing is the final exution of the art. P produce hundreds of drawing in every conceivable media, but especially in pencil and crayon. I found it very interesting that P did so much of this kind of work, drawing I mean, in his last years. some critics have argued he have just laughing at the art world which was willing to pay out rages some for anything with his

name on it. unclearly, a drawing cannot be exuted in the short period of time, but others, other credit they feel as I do that P was drawing because it was so basic and because it was so spontaneously and so much fun, and also think about difficulty did really is to produce a quick drawing with few lines and no opportunity to recreate the original either by painting at out or remodeling the clay or changing the building material or any other methods for revision of the finish artist work that artist have disposal. so what i am saying is that drawing when its elevated to a finish piece it must be done with confidence. and it must show a high degree of creativity and mastery of the art form, in a way, it hard can expect to the beginning of the artist self. when some unknown artist must stock a finger in the earth of drawing image or maybe he pick up the stone. and made a drawing on the wall of cave. Ok, so as first assignment, i want u to make a couple of the sketches yourself, i not going to grade them, it is not a studio art class. I just want you to use few basic strokcs to capture image, you can do the first one in pencil crayon Inc chock or even chokle whatever you like, then i want to sketch the same image in different media, so if you do the face in pencil, i want you do the same face in chock or crayon. bring them to the class next week, and we will continue our

discussion of drawing, but we’ll talk more about the material artist use produce drawing, and we’ll refer your sketches as examples.

Arthur Miller(1915—2005)is universally recognized as one of the greatest dramatists of the 20th century.Miller's father had moved to the USA from Austria-Hungary,drawn like so many others by the “Great American Dream”.However,he experienced severe financial hardship when his family business was ruined in the Great Depression of the early 1930s.

Miller's most famous play,Death of a Salesman,is a powerful attack on the American system, with its aggressive way of doing business and its insistence on money and social status as indicators of worth. In Willy Loman, the hero of the play,we see a man who has got into trouble with this system.Willy is “burnt out” and in the cruel world of business there is no room for sentiment:if he can't do the work, then he is no good to his employer, the Wagner Company, and he must go.Willy is painfully aware of this, and at a loss as to what to do with his lack of success. He refuses to face the fact that he has failed and kills himself in the end.

George Gershwin, born in 1998, was one of America’s greatest composers. He published his first song when the was eighteen years old. During the next twenty years he wrote more than five hundred songs.

Many of Gershwin’s songs were first written for musical plays performed in theatres in New York City. These plays were a popular form of entertainment in the 1920s and 1930s. Many of his songs have remained popular as ever. Over the years they have been sung and played in every possible way — from jazz to country.

In the 1920s there was a debate in the United States about jazz music. Could jazz, some people asked, be considered serious music? In 1924 jazz musician and orchestra leader Paul Whiteman decided to organize a special concert to show that jazz was serious music. Gershwin agreed to compose something for the concert before he realized he had just a few weeks to do it. And in that short time, he composed a piece for piano and orchestra which he called Rhapsody in Blue. Gershwin himself played the piano at the concert. The audience were thrilled when they heard his music. It made him world-famous and showed that jazz music could be both serious and popular.

In 1928, Gershwin went to Paris. He applied to study composition (作曲)with the well-known musician Nadia Boulanger, but she rejected him. She was afraid that classical study would ruin his jazz-influenced style. While there, Gershwin wrote An American in Paris. When it was first performed, critics (评论家)were divided over the music. Some called it happy and full of life, to others it was silly and boring. But it quickly became popular in Europe and the United States. It sill remains one of his most famous works.

George Gershwin died in 1937, just days after doctors learned he had brain cancer. He was only thirty-nine years old. Newspapers all over the world reported his death on their front pages. People mourned the loss of the man and all the music he might have still written.
