Television has changed people's life much since it was invented. Now it has become one important part of modern life. TV benefits us. For a family, for example, it is more convenient as well as cheaper to sit comfortably at home, with almost entertainment available. They do not have to pay for expensive seats at the theatre, the cinema, or the opera. All they have to do is to press a button. Television can help us learn more about the world we live in, we can always get the latest news. A lot of television programs introduce people to things they never thought of before and have never heard of before. It helps us keep up with the outside world so that we can make progress faster. We can enjoy ourselves very much while watching TV; it helps us forget our problems, at least for a short moment. We can communicate with many other people through television. We also get information, we get much knowledge by watching TV, and we learn fast in this way because this is always interesting. Many programs teach us how to get on with each other, how to live a happy life and how to be a nice person. Moreover, TV watching appeared to help 3- to 5-year-olds with basic reading recognition and short-term memory.

But television, like other things, has both advantages and disadvantages. Some people spend a lot of time watching TV every day. They become so dependent on TV programs that TV affects their work

and study. And people no longer have enough time for hobbies, entertaining activities, and other outside amusement like theatres, cinemas, sports. Television prevents people from communicating with each other. It has done a lot of harm to the relationship between family members. Besides, some programs such as violence have a pernicious influence on children. A lot of parents use television as a pacifier for their children. They put their children in front of the set and don’t care whether the children are exposed to rubbishy commercials or spectacles of violence as long as the children are quiet.

As far as I’m concerned, we should choose proper programs at proper time for people in different ages. We should make TV a useful tool to us and get benefit from it.

The fast food restaurants are very popular, because the food is delicious, the service is fast, the location is very convenient and the environment is clean. On the other hand, their foods are unhealthy and there are food safety concerns too.

I like to eat at KFC because the roast chicken is very delicious. The service is super fast, I can get my food in two minutes. The KFC is near to my house, I always walk to KFC, it takes me about five minutes. In addition, KFC is always clean, you will never see a trash on the floor.

I think there are two disadvantages eating at KFC. Firstly, the foods are unhealthy, for example, the roast chicken contains high oil, high calories and low fiber. Secondly, there are also many food safety concerns. They reused the oil to deep fry the chicken, and this oil may cause cancer.

appearance, many people, especially girls, would like to lose weight by eating less. As is known to all, dieting is a very controversial topic . Some people may think that dieting is good for people. They give the reason that dieting can help people

keep a good figure and look more attractive. While others worry that dieting may destroy people’s health. They think that people should not go on a diet in order to stay healthy.

From my perspective, I prefer the latter; I do agree that dieting is bad for us. Most dieting is unbalanced and unhealthy. Apart from the reasons they gave, my reasons are as follows.

To begin with, Diets cause Energy Loss . Most weight loss diets work because the calorie intake of the person is greatly reduced. When a person eats lesser food and loses weight, his energy levels fall and he may feel very tired because of it. Also, when the body does not get enough fats from the foods that a person eats, it tends to use all the fat cells that are already present in the body, resulting in more loss of energy and the person feeling even more tired. So if you were to ask me "is dieting harmful?” there is a great possibility that it can be.

Secondly, Results of Diets are Temporary . Since many people have failed all the times when they went on a diet, it often makes me think,” Does dieting work at all?" Well, the main

draw back of any diet program is that it puts restrictions on lots of things such as what to eat, when to eat, how much to eat, etc. Most of the people are unable to continue with these restrictions and tend to give up their diet plans midway. Moreover, even if weight loss does happen, the person might not be able to sustain it lifelong, and may gain weight later, once he goes back to his normal diet. So, those of you who want
