Always be optimistic!

Always Be Optimistic

When we were young, we were always told the story of Thomas Alva Edison who was a world-famous American electric expert, scientist and inventor. He did more than one thousand times of experiences in an attempt to find the right material for making light bulbs. And finally he succeeded. In this case, Edison succeeded precisely because he remained happy and optimistic attitude when he failed. So as far as I am concerned, it is more important to be happy and optimistic when you fail.

While success is important, being happy and optimistic is more crucial. We all know that everyone needs to be optimistic because to have optimistic attitude in life is the key to settle down all hard things. When one is optimistic, he often foresees the hopes and actively tries to work out. I read a story once told that a psychologist came to a church which was under construction and he asked the three workers who were busy cracking the stones the same question that "What are you doing?" Nevertheless, the three workers' answers were quite different. The first one answered unpleasant that he was using the heavy hammer to break the stone and it's a tough job that no one would be willing to do it. The second one replied the psychologist that he did this merely to earn money in order to feed the whole family. When it came to the third one, however, he told the psychologist that he was building a gorgeous and magnificent church and people would come here to accept God's love again when it's done. When he told the psychologist he was very jovial. Several years later, the third worker became a distinguished architect.

The story told us that only when you continually keep a cheerful and optimistic attitude, can you success in the end. Keeping optimistic, you will be able to realize, in spite of some hardship, there's always hope waiting for you, which will lead you to the ultimate success. Only when we have an optimistic attitude can we be aware of the latent opportunities and then overcoming the misfortunes. The door of success will open for you when you decide to confront the failures with an optimistic attitude. For the statements above, we can easily draw the conclusion that the optimistic attitude is more important in our life. I hope that everybody can hold the optimistic attitude.

篇三:be happy

Be Happy!

“The days that make us happy make us wise.”----John Masefield

when I first read this line by England’s Poet Laureate, it startled me. What did Masefield mean? Without thinking about it much, I had always assumed that the opposite was true. But his sober assurance was arresting. I could not forget it.

Finally, I seemed to grasp his meaning and realized that here was a profound observation. The wisdom that happiness makes possible lies in clear perception, not fogged by anxiety nor dimmed by despair and boredom, and without the blind spots caused by fear.

Active happiness---not mere satisfaction or contentment ---often comes suddenly, like an April shower or the unfolding of a bud. Then you discover what kind of wisdom has accompanied it. The grass is greener; bird songs are sweeter; the shortcomings of your friends are more understandable and more forgivable. Happiness is like a pair of eyeglasses correcting your spiritual vision.

Nor are the insights of happiness limited to what is near around you. Unhappy, with your thoughts turned in upon your emotional woes, your vision is cut short as though by a wall. Happy, the wall crumbles.

The long vista is there for the seeing. The ground at your feet, the world about you----people, thoughts, emotions, pressures---are now fitted into th

e larger scene. Everything assumes a fairer proportion. And here is the beginning of wisdom.

The Happy door

Happiness is like a pebble dropped into a pool to set in motion an ever-widening circle of ripples. As Stevenson has said, being happy is a duty. There is no exact definition of the word happiness. Happy people are happy for all sorts of reasons. The key is not wealth or physical well-being, since we find beggars, invalids and so-called failures, who are extremely happy.

Being happy is a sort of unexpected dividend. But staying happy is an accomplishment, a triumph of soul and character. It is not selfish to strive for it. It is, indeed, a duty to ourselves and others.

Being unhappy is like an infectious disease. It causes people to shrink away from the sufferer. He soon finds himself alone, miserable and embittered. There is, however, a cure so simple as to seem, at first glance, ridiculous; if you don’t feel happy, pretend to be!

It works. Before long you will find that instead of repelling people, you attract them. You discover how deeply rewarding it is to be the center of wider and wider circles of good will.

Then the make-believe becomes a reality. You possess the secret of peace of mind, and can forget yourself in being of service to others.

Being happy, once it is realized as a duty and established as a habit, opens doors into unimaginable gardens thronged with grateful friends.

To make friends and keep them, you have to keep your words. If you agree to meet someone at a certain time, you should arrive at the place on time or a little earlier. If you agree to help others, you must do it. Of course if there is something unexpected(没有预料到的) happening and you can’t do what you have agreed to do, your friends will understand this.

Everyone needs friends. But how do you find real friendship and keep it?

The American writer Sally Seamans tells young students some smart ways to find friends. Sally says founding friendship is just like planting a tree.

First, you should choose a friend. What makes a good friend? It is not because a person has money or good looks. For example, if you have a bad day, a good friend could listen to your complaints (抱怨) and do his or her best to help you. You should make each other happy and share your lives.

But things can not always be happy. Even the best friends have fights. You have to talk to him or her. When there is no one around, have a good talk. If he or she doesn’t want to talk, you can write a letter.

There are three steps to be friends again:

Tell him or her how you are feeling. Remember that friendship is one of the most important things in your life.
