篇一：英语感人故事

There are no such setbacks that we could not overcome.

There was a woman in the countryside who got married at the age of 18 and had

to escape with her two daughters and a son wherever she could at the age of 26 due to

the Japanese army’s invasion. At that time many people in the village could not bear

the suffering of keeping escaping and being worried every day so they wanted to

commit suicide. After she knew about it, she would come to those people and soothed

them by saying, “Don’t do that silly thing. There are no such setbacks that we could

not overcome. The Japanese armies must be expelled one day!”

Finally she insisted until the day when all the Japanese armies were kicked out of

China. Unfortunately, her son died of disease without sufficient medicine and

nutrition in those days of hardships. Her husband, after knowing the death of his son,

lay in bed for two days without eating and drinking anything. She said to her husband

with tears , “We have a tough destiny, but no matter how tough our lives will be, we

should also persist. Though our son has passed away, we can have another. There are

no such setbacks that we could not overcome.”

After giving birth to the second son, her husband died of cancer, she was

almost lost all hope . But eventually, she recovered and held the three young children

tightly , saying, “My sweet hearts, don’t feel scared. You still have me, your dear

mum!”

The sun came to shine on their life.It took her painstaking efforts to raise her

children up and the life of her family was getting better and better. Two daughters

were married and so was his son finally. She said to everyone she met, “Look! What I

said is absolutely right. There are no such setbacks that we could not overcome! My

life is so happy now!” She was aging gradually and could not do the farm work any

more. So she stayed at home and started to knit.

Nevertheless, the Heaven seemed to show no sympathy to her who had undergone

a rough life. She got her leg broken accidentally when she was nursing her grandson.

Due to her old age , it would take a great risk to her operation, she did not receive

operation and had to lay in bed all day . Her children all cried heavily, while she said,

“Why do you cry? I am still living.”

She lived until 86. Before she went to Heaven, she said to her children, “You all

should live to your best. There are no such setbacks that we could not overcome!”

There was once a guy who suffered from cancer, a cancer that can't be cured. He was 18 years old and he could die anytime. All his life, he was stuck in his house being taken care of by his father. He never went outside but he was sick of staying at home and wanted to go out for once. So he asked his father and he gave him permission.

从前，有一个少年患了癌症，根本无法治愈。他只有18岁，随时都可能死去。他每天都待在家里，父亲照料着。他从来都没出去过，但在家实在待烦了，想出去走走，父亲也就同意了。

He walked down his block and found a lot of stores. He passed a CD store and looked through the front door for a second as he walked. He stopped and went back to look into the store. He saw a beautiful mid-aged woman and felt that she seemed like his dead mother in his mind at his first sight. He opened the door and walked in, not looking at anything else but her. He walked closer and closer until he was finally at the front desk where she sat.

他走在大街上，看到了很多商店，经过一家音像店时，他透过橱窗盯了一会儿。然后他停下来，又折回音像店向里望去。他看到了一位美丽的中年女子，一眼就觉得对方好似自己记忆中逝世的母亲。他打开门，走了进去，眼里始终只有她一个人。他不由自主地走到了柜台前，走到那个妇女坐着的地方。

She looked up and asked, "Can I help you?" She smiled and he thought it was the most beautiful smile he has ever seen before and wanted to call her Mother only right there.

妇女抬头问道：“你想要点什么?”她微笑着，他觉得这是他一生中看到的最美的笑容，其实这时他最想做的就是喊她一声妈妈。

He said, "Uh... Yeah... Umm... I would like to buy a CD."

他结结巴巴地说：“是的，嗯，那个……我想买一张CD。”

He picked one out and gave her money for it.

他随便拿了张CD，连同钱一起递给她。

"Would you like me to wrap it for you?"she asked, smiling with her cute smile again.

“想让我把它包起来吗?”妇女问，依然带着可爱的笑容。

He nodded. And she went to the back. She came back with the wrapped CD and gave it to him. He took it and walked out of the store.

他点了点头。她回到后面，出来的时候，手里拿着包装好的CD，然后交给了他。他接过CD，离开了商店。

He went home and from then on, he went to that store every day and bought a CD, and she wrapped it for him. He took the CD home and put it in his closet. He was still too shy to tell her what he thought in his mind.

他回家了。从那以后，这个少年每天都到那家音像店去买一张CD。她每次都将CD包好交给他，他也总是把CD带回去，放进自己的衣柜里。这个少年很羞涩，不敢对她说出内心的想法

He really wanted to, but he couldn't. Father knew this, but he couldn't help her son. The next day, he took all his courage and went to the store as usual. He bought a CD like he did every day and once again she went to the back of the store and came back with it wrapped. He took it and when she wasn't noticing, he left a note on the desk and ran out ..., on which with his phone number and with these words: How I wish I could call you Mother!

他真的很想，但却不能。父亲知道了一切，可他却帮不上自己的儿子。第二天，他终于鼓起了勇气，像往常一样走进了音像店，买了一张CD，她也像往常一样，到后面去替他包起来。他接过CD，趁她不注意时，他在桌子上留下了一张便条，然后跑了出去，便条上有他的电话号码，还有这样的话语：我多么想喊您一声妈妈。

叮铃铃铃!!!

One day the phone rang, and the father picked it up and said, "Hello?"

有一天，电话铃响了，父亲接起电话：“喂?”

It was the woman!!! Tears came into the father's eyes and he said, "You don't know? He passed away yesterday..."

是那个妇女打来的!!!父亲伤心地流泪了，他说：“你不知道吗？他昨天死了……”

The line was quiet except for the cries of the boy's father. Later in the day, the father went into the boy's room because he wanted to remember him. He thought he would start by looking at his clothes. So he opened the closet.

电话线那端沉默了，只能听到父亲的抽泣声。那天晚些时候，父亲来到儿子的房间，他想念儿子了，就想看看他的衣服，于是打开了衣柜。

He was face to face with piles and piles and piles of unopened CDs. He was surprised to find all these CDs and he picked one up and sat down on the bed and he started to open one. Inside, there was a CD and as he took it out of the wrapper, out fell a piece of paper. The father picked it up and started to read it. It said, Hi... I think you are really like my mother in my memory. Can I call you Mum？Love, Jocelyn.The father was deeply moved and opened another CD...

父亲看到的是衣柜里一大堆包好的CD，这些CD都没有打开过。父亲大吃一惊。坐在床边，打开了一个包装，从包装盒中拿出CD时，盒里掉出一张小纸条，他拾了起来，上面写道：嗨，你好，我觉得你真的像我记忆中的妈妈，我能喊您妈妈吗？乔斯林。父亲深受感动，他又打开了一个CD盒……

Again there was a piece of paper. It also said the same wods, Hi... I think you are really like my mother in my memory. Can I call you Mum? Love, Jocelyn.

The spring festival was approaching. It occurred to him that he didn’t go back home for a very long time when he saw an old woman hugged a young boy with tears in the chill evening. Yes

“ How are you?

“ I am fine, how are you? Is mother there?”

“ Your mother let me ask you when do you come back, she is on the bed.”

“ I..., is she watching TV, please ask her to take good care of her eyes. I remember”

He didn’t want to be on the defensive of his condition. What his father did is only to express their yearning of the only son. He didn’t feel it demean to let his parents to find a presentable job for him in his hometown, but the failure of self-realization made him breathless. After all, he worked in the company for 3 years. Yes, the job was both a detriment to him and his parents. It made both of them in the throes of separation. At last, he went back home.

It’s sorrowful to work outside without any achievements, but no one knows how grief will he be if he turned to be a teacher as the way that his father had paved for him without having to try to pursue his dream.
