Guan Moye was born in Shandong Province China on 17 February 1955, by the pen name Mo Yan. He is a Chinese teacher, novelist and short story writer.

His first novel，Falling Rain on a Spring Night, was published in 1981. He released his notable novel Red Sorghum Class in 1986.

Mo Yan graduated from People’s Liberation Army Art School in 1986. In 1991 he obtained a master’s degree in Literature from Beijing Normal University.

Mo Yan has published dozens of novels in Chinese. Two of his notable works are A Transparent Radish (1985), and Frog (2011). Several of Mo Yan’s works have been adapted for films, such as Red Sorghum and Happy Times.

Besides the Nobel Prize in Literature, Mo Yan also won Mao Dun Literature Prize in 2011.

在“颠轿”一场戏中，从表层来看，它是偌多抬轿的粗野壮汉对花轿中一位红装红盖头新娘的戏谑式恶作剧；但从深层来看，它既是几条赤膊壮汉面对新娘九儿的魅力所萌动的性的潜在欢悦与渴望的自发宣泄，又是对九儿面临不合理不人道的两性结合却又爱莫能助的悲凉、怨愤之情的自发发作。而惟一能使这一载歌载舞的“颠轿”迪斯科从疯狂的顶点戛然而止的神力，不是别的，正是轿中九儿的几声哽咽的啜泣声。编导在这一情绪与节奏的转变点中，把这群粗野壮汉内心合乎人伦天性的美好性灵洞悉与烛照出来，是影片开始首先打动人心的点睛之笔。这一节奏休止造成的情绪落差，确定了九儿在野汉们心中实际占据的真正神圣的地位。而在这群抬轿壮汉中，又惟有“我爷爷”余占鳌，以其更加强烈的受性的神力驱使的生命意志力，敢于把自己内心的骚动与渴望一一付诸外在的实际行动——比之于其他壮汉，余占鳌确实高出一筹，是名副其实的独占鳌头——凭着九儿曾给他的一个美目顾盼，以至于接踵而来的杀夫、劫妻乃至高粱地里的交欢野合，不能以狭隘的法的定律为准绳，而是一种人性的散发。
