Tradition versus Freedom

Recent years,tradition and freedom have been discussed as a

controversial issue worldwide. Nowadays,the issue on the two

contrary conceptions is on fire. The standpoints are miscellaneous.

Someone who hold that tradition should preserve,claims that we

shouldn’t forget the past, and someone who suggest that we

should break with tradition and give freedom a warmly hug. In China,bell-bottoms is one of the most representative thing

which has broken the shackles of the traditional concept after the

Cultural Revolution.As a foreign goods, bell-bottoms went into

Chinese vision in the early 1980s. The queerly style pants caused

diversity oppositions and resistances while Chinese thoughts were

still relatively conservativeness in that stage. Additional,styles of

clothing were exceedingly monotonous. Before the apparence of the

bell-bottoms, women’s dress had always been in the “right side of

the opening”, but the zip of bell-bottoms is in front of trousers, and

its shape is also very exaggerated. These contrasts gradually changed

Puppy love is not adevocated by majority of parents in my country. In their traditional ideas,”puppy love” must result in a harmful ending. For that case, I suggest that we need more freedom, but young people also need a certain control and advices from parents and society. If there is more understanding between pupils and their parents, puppy love might be a good memory of our adolescence.

As far as I’m concerned, I believe both views have their own merits and demerits. We need to look at the dialectical relationship between tradition and freedom. Tradition is a custom or way of doing something that has existed for a long time. Different countries have different traditions.Tradition like lines of kites, and kites like freedom. We need freedom such as kites fly higher and higher, but if we don’t have line, kite can’t fly. So if there is not tradition, there is not freedom in our society. When all the above-mentioned factors have been taken into consideration, a conclusion could be drawn that only if the freedom and tradition interdepend,can we have a better human society.
