The phenomena of interpolymer interactions have been the focus of intensive fundamental and applied research on polyelectrolyte complexes (PECs).The PECs prepared from natural polymers such as proteins and polysaccharides have the additional advantage ofbeing non-toxic and bioabsorbable.Protein polyelectrolyte interactions have been concerned widely with biotechnological and biomedical applications such as protein purification,enzyme immobilization,immunosensing and bioactive sensors.Several globular proteins and polyelectrolytes (natural or synthetic) have been matched for various techniques and objectives of investigation.Table l represents some examples of researches on the formation of protein/polysaccharide systems in literature.
