摘 要:为适应现代外语教学改革的需要,计算机网络技术应用于大学英语教学已势成必然。大学英语写作是大学英语学习的薄弱环节之一,传统的教学方法制约了现代外语教学。本文主要讲述使用计算机网络教学的优越性、可行性及使用方法,从而促使大学生英语写作能力的提高。

随着大学英语教学改革的日益深入,计算机网络在大学英语教改中发挥着越来越重要的作用。计算机辅助语言教学的研究与探索始于二十世纪六十年代,其发展受到计算机技术与教学理论的双重制约。而大学英语学习中的听、说、读、写四大技能中,写作被学生认为是最头痛、最困难的。在英语应用能力考试与英语四、六级考试当中,学生失分最多的也是写作。因此,英语写作教学事实上已成为制约大学英语教学改革的主要因素。

大学英语中的写作教学,占据重要地位。写作能力的培养一直是英语教学中的重要内容。英语写作,它是一个思维过程,是一种言语交流,是多种语言能力的综合反映。可学生在这方面的能力普遍不足。本文着重谈谈计算机网络在辅助大学英语教学中的作用以及如何利用计算机网络来改善大学英语写作教学。

一、传统英语写作教学中的问题

传统的英语写作教学基本上是以教师为中心的教学模式。教师一只粉笔、一张嘴,大书特书英语写作的特点、要素等,强调教师的权威,师生之间、学生之间缺乏交流,信息不够顺畅。结果呢,教师在上面讲的津津有味,学生在下面听的昏昏欲睡。因此,学生容易丧失学习英语写作的积极性。这样的英语写作课学生自然认为枯燥烦闷,索然无味。

另外,中国学生深受几千年传统文化的影响,写文章时喜欢引用名家或权威人士的语句,并不断重复一些众人皆知的口语,且没有主题句、支撑句,这样写出来的文章让人看不懂,猜不透,如坠云雾之中,加之中式思维,写出中式英语,让人一片茫然,不知所云。比如:“蛋白”译成“egg white”,“重男轻女”译成“Man is weighty,woman is light”,“没有文化”译成“have no culture”,“童子鸡”译成“chicken without sexual life”,“知识结构”译成“knowledge structure”等等,不一而足。这样的英语是让人看不懂的。这种现象的出现是与我们传统的英语写作教学分不开的。

目前常见的几种写作教学模式都存在着不足之处。它包括交际写作教学法、过程写作教学法和类型写作教学法。传统的英语写作训练法难以激发学生的写作兴趣和热情。难以调动学生

的写作积极性,学生是被动的。在写作操练中,英文输入数量不足,质量不确定,材料不够真实。训练环境模拟法、机械化应是主因。学生在写作中所出现的问题存在于师生两个方面:一方面,教师在行为主义教学理论的影响下,对英文写作采取成果教学法,这种教学法有很多的不足之处,如:以教师为中心,过分强调遣词、造句、语法等。另外 ,学生受各种考试及就业压力的影响,盲目追求高分,不注重自己应用能力的培养,不强调自己综合素质的提高,造成“高分低能” 、“怀揣大六证书大逃亡”(意指过了六级,能力低下,只会考试,对方一开口就溜的那种)的现象。因此,中国传统的考试体系误导了英语写作的方向。

二、计算机辅助英语教学

计算机辅助英语教学主要是指运用多媒体手段通过计算机把声音、文字、图形、图像、动画、影像等多种媒体结合起来的技术。它把多媒体的各要素按教学要求进行有机地组合,并通过屏幕展现出来,同时加上声音效果,以及通过使用者与计算机之间的操作来完成教学训练过程。大学英语使用计算机辅助语言教学能够使用现代化的手段并结合教材,能更加有效、深入的将知识传授给学生。

计算机辅助语言教学是英语教学发展的必然趋势。我校于〇六级本科生及研究生中全面推行网络教学,不算太早,但学生普遍反映很好,效果明显。因为它与传统的英语教学模式有着本质的区别。因为如今的英语教学既注重教师教学方法的优化,又注重借助计算机来引导学生学习,以求得最佳学习效果。

三、为什么要进行网络英语写作教学

首先,计算机网络展现在我们面前的是一个五彩斑斓的世界,它可以极大地培养学生学习英语的兴趣。传统的英语写作教学教师所描述的知识内容是静止不动的,而多媒体辅助教学发挥了多媒体技术集成性的特点,集图像、声音、文字、动画和视频于一体,能充分吸引学生的注意力,唤醒他们的求知欲。

其次,丰富了写作教学内容与写作方式。互联网为广大英语教师提供了一个广阔的平台,丰富了教学参考资料库。其有效性、多样性、廉价性及便捷性是任何图书馆无法比拟的。所谓“鼠标一点,内容尽出”就是这个道理。教师利用网络查找相关写作资料,编写网上课件供学生课下学习和答疑使用。

再次,有利于灵活的教学互动。学生通过学习软件和电子邮件等交上来的作业,教师可以及时地给以指导,批改后再要求学生进行修改,甚至可以进行师生讨论、探讨,直至写得最好。学生交作业也无须统一时间,方便教师批改,提高教师的批改质量。另外,网上又有许多可供学生使用的学习英语写作的网站。网站提供了大量的写作素材,能够为学生和教师减轻负担,方便学生进行自主学习。让学生的想象和思维有了充分的发展空间

四、网络英语写作教学的可行性及运用方式

早在二零零四年国家教育部就高等学校大学英语教学提出了相应要求,即高校应充分利用多媒体及网络技术,采用新的教学方式改进原来的以教师讲授为主的单一课堂教学模式,并通过计算机学习英语课程。该要求使大学英语教学朝着个性化、自主化的学习方向发展,体现出学生在学习中的主导地位。此外,计算机在学生中的普及,据了解,我校60%以上的同学拥有自己的电脑,有些寝室甚至达到了100%,基于此,再加上高校日益普及的多媒体教室及师生信息素养能力的提高,均为计算机网络辅助英语教学提供了可能。那么,既然可行,究竟该如何使用计算机网络来辅助大学英语教学呢?笔者通过多年的教学实践,发现下列方式可用于大学英语写作教学。

(1)电子邮件(E-mail)电子邮件是一种非常实用的英语教学工具,学生通过使用一个电子邮箱地址,教师通过邮件的方式在课程教学安排、问题答疑、师生讨论、作业布置、修改及反馈等方面对学生的学习进行实时的指导。学生也可以通过邮件就教、学的问题进行师生交流,并提出一些合理化建议。从而提高学生的学习热情,增强学生学习英语的信心,改善自我英语表达能力。

通过电子邮件练习写作比较好的实施过程写作教学法,此法通常分为几个步骤:前期准备,初稿,改稿,编辑与提交。这几个步骤形成一个“渐进式”的循环学习过程,且这种过程没有时间和地点的限制。

传统的写作教学过分强调教师的权威作用,师生之间、学生之间的交流不够顺畅。而E-mail应用于教学则是经典的一对一的模式,教师可以鼓励学生通过邮件相互交流,互相学习,这无疑是邮件功能的一种升华。

(2)个人博客(Blog)随着网络技术的迅猛发展,博客成为继电子邮件之后人们进行信息交流的又一大工具。博客实际就是一种网络日志,很受大学生的欢迎。那么教师可以利用这一平台创建一个写作教学博客,在其中刊登教案、写作知识及经典的写作范文和学生习作点评。所有本班学生均可自由进入,进行浏览、阅读、发表感言等活动,教师及时在博客中给予回应。在这种电子互动中,学生不会有任何心理压力,可以知无不言,言无不尽,进而促进写作水平的提高。

(3)即时通讯工具当今网络出现了许多即时聊天软件,它们给学生带来了轻松学习英语的环境。学生只要获取一个工具,申请号码经加密就可进行聊天。比如腾讯QQ、网易泡泡、碧聊、UU-LAVA、新浪的UC、及国际上微软的MSN等聊天工具与网友进行英语聊天,结交网友。教师可以通过某种工具即时与本班学生取得联系,与他们进行英语聊天。这样,既可以锻炼学生的英语,又可以了解学生的思想动态,一举两得,何乐而不为呢?可以说,即时通讯工具为学生练习英语写作提供了又一新的天地

此外,教师还可鼓励学生创建个人、小组或班级学习主页,进行合作学习,教师可以进入主页查看他们的学习、讨论情况,提出建议并进行点评。这样,学生的学习热情将被无限激活。

五、结论

总之,计算机辅助语言教学作为一种教学手段,极大地弥补了传统英语写作教学模式的不足,使学生的学习热情空前高涨。真正实现了以学生为中心的主题教学活动,教师是参与者、辅导者。诚然,这种新的尝试,也要求教师不仅要掌握先进的英语写作教学理念,还应有高超的计算机应用能力,假以现代教育的新思想、新观念,我们的大学英语写作教学必将迎来一个质的飞跃。
