赛龙舟

龙舟竞渡又称“赛龙舟”、“划龙船”、“龙船赛会”等，大多数人只知道是为了纪念楚大夫屈原而源远流长的群众性娱乐活动。其实，其起因历来说法不一，主要有以下几种:

一说是为了纪念越王勾践操练水师，打败吴国。“越地传云，竞渡之事起于越王勾践，今龙舟是也。”(《事物原始?端阳》)吴越交战，勾践败而被俘，在吴国过了三年忍辱含垢的生活，骗得了吴王夫差的信任，被放回越国。回国后，他卧薪尝胆，立志雪耻，于当年五月初五成立水师，开始操练，终于在数年后，一举消灭吴国。后人为了昭彰勾践这种坚韧不拔的精神，便效仿越国水师演练时的情景，于五月五日这一天划船竞渡，以示纪念。

二说是为了纪念伍子胥和曹娥。传说伍子胥因遭谗言诽谤，被吴王夫差命人抛于钱塘江波涛之中，有曹娥驾舟去救。“五月五日，时迎伍君，逆涛而上，为水所淹”(《曹娥碑》)。后世遂划龙舟，作救伍员状。

三说是为了纪念楚大夫屈原。这种说法普遍被接受，其文字记载始见于南朝梁人撰写的《续齐谐记》:“楚大夫屈原遭谗不用，是日投汨罗江死，楚人哀之，乃以舟楫拯救。端阳竞渡，乃遗俗也。”

这些说法，都各有各的道理，但都没有说清楚一个最基本的问题:不管是为了纪念某某人，还是为了“迎夏至”、“避恶日”，为什么偏偏要举办“龙舟”竞渡呢?也就是说，为什么要赛“龙舟”而不赛其它什么“舟”呢?

回答这个问题，得从龙的基本神性入手。我们说过，龙有喜水、好飞、善变、征瑞等神性和兴云布雨、司水理水的神职。既然有这样的神性和神职，被生活在江渎四流、湖泊星罗的水乡各族人民所崇拜就是再自然不过的事情。崇拜意识必然要外化为具体行为。这些行为包括:祭神，将人间美味敬献给神灵，并伴之以香火，让其款款享用;娱神，歌唱、舞蹈，想着法儿让神快乐;拟神，模仿神的举止形态，表示自己和神物有密切的关系，自己身上已秉赋了“神性”，从而能够“神灵活现”。这大概是“龙舟竞渡”的深层动因。人们相信，通过声势浩大的竞赛龙舟，能使天上水中的神龙心神感应而大娱大悦，从而焕发神性，克尽神职，保佑一方水土风调雨顺，稼渔丰成。同时，也使人们自身秉赋龙性，像龙那样强悍矫健，进而怯邪弥难。至于纪念某某人云云，只不过是一种附会。原因大概在于，这些人杰的“人性”和龙的“神性”有相通一致之处，又多少分担了龙的一部分“神职”。比如伍子胥就曾被奉为长江水域的“水仙”、“涛神”、“潮神” 和“江神”;屈原也曾被封为“广源顺济王”，有“江神即楚大夫屈原”之说。

赛龙舟的来历

赛龙舟是端午节的一项重要活动，在我国南方很流行，它最早是古越族人祭水神或龙神的一种祭祀活动，其起源可追溯至原始社会末期。现已被列入国家级非物质文化遗产名录。赛龙舟将成为2010年广州亚运会正式比赛项目。

传说，很久以前，西岸没有河流，只有一条又小又脏的水沟。一天，有个打鱼人在水沟里网住了一条小蛇。这条小蛇十分奇特，尾部有九片闪耀的鳞片。当渔人把手触向鳞片时，蛇眼里闪着乞求的光芒，十分可怜。渔人顿生恻隐之心，抚了一下它的鳞片，就把它放回了水沟。谁知那九片鳞忽然落了，小蛇长身而舞，化为一条小龙。原来，它是一条上天的神龙，因触犯了天条，受玉皇大帝处罚，变成这模样，它的尾巴上被加了九把锁─就是小蛇尾上的

九片闪耀的鳞。玉皇曾言:“这锁要打开，除非得到人的阳气。”刚才渔人无意中竟打开了小龙身上的千年枷锁。小龙为了感谢渔人，在水沟里不停地翻动，并从口里不停的喷出水来，灌注在小水沟里。慢慢地，小水沟变成了大河(也就是现在的西岸河)，河水为西岸带来了五谷丰登。为了纪念这条神龙，人们把沿河的村子称为龙头寨，上龙首等村。在神龙升天这一天，也就是端午节举行赛龙舟，以示庆贺。
