On that day , many families , malls and business buildings will turn off the lights from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm of the local time. Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007. Many homes and businesses kept their lights off for one hour. Now Earth Hour has become a worldwide event. It aims to tell us to care for our home, the earth.

It was Saturday. Many famous buildings and homes in Chinese cities joined the activity at 8:30 pm on March 28th 2009. They turned off the lights for Earth Hour. So did my family. Mother bought a lot of fruits .There were apples, bananas , grapes and so on. She also bought some candles . At eight thirty in the evening , we turned off all the lights and the TV in the house. We lighted some candles. We had a candle-lit party together. At the party, I sang songs for my family and grandparents told us interesting stories .We talked a lot . It was dark but we had a good time. How time flies! An hour passed and it was time to turn on the lights again. How happy my family were!

Earth Hour is not only a message of hope but also a message of action. It’s our duty to save the earth. Everyone can make a difference. Will you join us ?

In order to save the environment and climate, the "Earth Hour " was born. This activity which was set up at Marth 27, 2010 appeals to us to turn off the lights for one hour, aiming at appealing people to save our environment.

At the same time, it goes with many different opinion. Form where some people stand, they cannot agree more with this idea for it is our duties to put saving earth into practice. However, on the other hand, others consider that it cannot make any contribution to protect our environment.

Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million individuals and more than 2,000 businesses turned their lights off for one hour to take a stand against climate change. Nowadays, people all over the world pay more and more attention to the changes of world climate. On 3, 27th, 2010, the activity “Earth Hour” ran across the world. In order to solve the problem, it advocated people to turn off the light for an hour.

On one hand, some people are in fond of and take actions to support environmental protection. On the other hand, some are against it. Because they think it’s a show.

As a college student, I completely support this activity. The main reason why the world climate changes is that we produce too much green gases. Turning off the light just for one hour all over the world can help reduce a large amount of these gases. However, there are just some big cities of the world taking part in it. So as far as I’m concerned, we should enhance the awareness of environmental protection of people in the world. And everyone should take actions to live a greener life.
