Bicycles
1. Are bicycles popular where you live?
Yes, totally. I currently go to school by bike, and most students cycle to the places they take classes. Even outside the campus, people prefer to ride a bike, because it’s more environmentally friendly, and it can help to build a good shape of our body. Though bicycle was invented thousands years ago, it still proves to be useful.

I’d like to tell you that I usually ride a bicycle on the way from my home to the school buildings. I love use my bike as a transportation, because, unlike using a car, I can exercise and, more importantly, I don’t have to worry about where to park my bicycle.
3. When do you ride a bicycle?
I usually ride a bicycle during the big breaks of the school day. For example, when I go to the school buildings in the morning, to the play ground in the noon, back to my home in the evening. During classes, I would just choose to walk. Either way is very good for my health as well as the environment. So I really like riding a bicycle and walking.
4. Would you say that bicycles are suitable for everyone?
Well, uh, generally, bicycles are suitable for most people, because it can help them keep slim and healthy. However, there’s a crowd that not suitable for bicycles ---- the blind and the deaf. Clearly, the blind people cannot even feel the direction, so they should not ride a bike. As for the deaf, it’s very dangerous if someone is ringing to warn them to get out of their way, because it could cause serious injury.
5. What are the advantages and disadvantages of traveling by bicycles?
As everybody knows, traveling by bicycle is very good for one’s health, and for the environment as well. However, sometimes, riding a bicycle may bring some inconvenience. What if the bicycle breaks down in the middle of the trip and there is no spare wheel? What if the road is too rough to ride on? But all in all, if we choose a route that is not very long, and is very smooth, things will become much easier, and bicycle seems to be a good choice.

Are bicycles popular in China? (or, in your hometown)
In countryside, bikes are called "a gift from God," "a two wheeled ambulance," "a running signboard" or "the iron
horse". They are playing a significant role in such areas.
Bicycles are very popular in China. Almost every family in the city has two or three bicycles. During the rush hour, you can see that thousands of people -- man and woman, old and young -- ride their bicycles to work and study. That is why China is called “the kingdom of bicycles”.
What are the reasons why people ride bicycles?(= What are the
advantages (or, benefits) of riding a bicycle?)
Bicycles are said to be the greatest vehicle ever invented by man. There are many reasons for bicycles' popularity.
?
? 1) Bicycles do not contaminate the air, or contribute to global warming. 2) Cycling is good for the health. Riding a bike for more than 20 minutes is good aerobic exercise, strengthening
cardiopulmonary functions and reducing fat.
? 3) Bicycles do not require much space. Six bicycles can run on a road width sufficient for just one car, and twenty
bicycles can be parked in a single car parking space.
? 4) Bicycles are cost-effective. The price of a bicycle is one hundredth of the price of a car. Bicycles do not need
gasoline, and also they are tax-free.
? 5) Bicycles are affordable. Compared with cars, bicycles are far more affordable for the billions of poorer people in
the world.

of raw materials.

Would you say it's safe to ride a bicycle in the city (or, in China)?
It is about road safety issues. Frankly, sometimes the "near miss" is inevitable. near miss: 差一点发生(事故或灾难),这在很多需要安全操作的工业术语中常见,一般称之为NEAR-MISS报告.
Yes, China has bicycle lanes. Cars pay attention to bikes.
It depends on how you ride a bike. if you want it be safe, ride well away from the gutter and parked cars, don't ride on the pavement, look out for right-turning vehicles especially if they can't see you because you're sneaking up the inside of traffic. Wear a helmet. It'll protect you if you fall of a bicycle which is common whether you trip or get hit by a car.
Has the number of bicycle riders in China changed much in the past few years?
Yes, declined... coz many people bought cars even if they don't really need them... just have money and want to
show off.
It has gone down and replaced by motorcycles and cars. Bikes are mostly used for recreation purposes.
It has increased a lot. Because riding a bicycle in the breeze is refreshing, and gives you the extra satisfaction of not using fossil fuels or emitting carbon dioxide. We hope this useful vehicle will play a more important role in society and bring happiness and comfort to many more people.

这是一篇雅思口语Part1范文,内容和自行车相关。雅思口语Part1相对比较生活化,不需要太难的词汇及语法,重在流利的交流。
1. Do you ever ride a bicycle?
Yeah I do, but not that much anymore, because I’m living on
campus at the moment. So everything’s pretty close to me, and I don’t really need a bike to get around.
2. How old were you when you first learned to ride a bicycle?
It was quite a while ago – let me have a little think! Um……I suppose I must have been about 5 or 6 when I first learned, but I honestly couldn’t tell you for sure, because I
simply can’t remember! But I think I was pretty small, so five or six sounds about right.
3. Are bicycles popular in China?
Yes they are. They’re incredibly popular! You know, if you go out onto any street in China, the chances are you’ll see a lot of bikes. And I
guess the reason for this is that they’re the cheapest way to get around, apart from walking of course, but that’s a lot slower!
4. Would you say it’s difficult to learn to ride a bicycle?
Well I think it’s like everything really, in the sense that when you start off learning, it feels extremely difficult, but the more you practice, the easier it gets. So yeah, I guess it is a little difficult to begin with, but it doesn’t take long to get the hang of.
5. What kinds of people ride bicycles?
Wow, you know it’s pretty hard to generalize, because I think all kinds of people ride bicycles, at least here in China anyway! So to be a bit more specific, you see young children riding their bikes around their neighbourhood, and then older children riding to school. And as for
adults, I think a lot of them will ride their bikes to work if they don’t have too far to travel. And the middle-aged and elderly also like cycling, as it’s good exercise for them and a cheap way to get around. So yeah, I think it’s fair to say that all ages of people ride bicycles, apart from the very young and very old. 6. Would you say it’s safe to ride a bicycle in the city?
On the whole, I’d say it is, yeah, as long as you cycle carefully of course! Because
what’s good is that in most cities here, there are separate bike lanes for cyclists to use, which makes it a lot safer.
