近日阅读网上爱因斯坦等名人的语录，受益匪浅，然而发现译文中有些值得商榷之处，特选取其中最重要的部分与大家讨论研究。 1. The ideals which have always shone before me and filled me with
the joy of living are goodness, beauty, and truth. To make a
goal of comfort or happiness has never appealed to me; a system
of ethics built on this basis would be sufficient only for a
herd of cattle. 注解：To make a goal of comfort or happiness has never appealed to me.
理解词义必须顾及所涉及的项目，如这里make表示‘制作’，一定涉及两项，
一是制作什么，二是用什么来制作；‘使成为’也是如此，‘使什么成为什么’。
由此可见，of comfort or happiness 并非是a goal的定语，而是用作宾语
补足语，意思是‘使舒适或幸福成为目标’；再说了，‘幸福’就是目标，怎么能说‘幸福的目标’，那样人们就会问‘幸福的目标’是什么；此句为简单
句，动词不定式短语用作主语，不能加‘为了’，‘为了’表示目的，必得有
主句；has never appealed to me （把幸福作为目标）对我从来没有吸引力；
翻译时可将‘我’作为主语：我向来不爱把幸福作为目标。

3. pause to wonder选择词义应该考虑到所搭配的词，‘为了怀疑而停下来’
似乎不当，应该是‘停下来打听’。词义的引申是：wonder徘徊→怀疑→
想知道→询问；strange陌生→不熟悉→稀有→缺少。
现有译文：1.我们可以体验的最美丽的东西是神秘的，它是所有真正的艺术和科学的
源泉。这种情感是陌生的，谁也不再怀疑，全神贯注如死了。

二 用法

1 Tap tap tappa tap-tap. It is the last sound to be heard before sleep. On especially bad days, it is the first sound to be heard in the morning. (1) It is the sound of the only lasting disagreement in a household that is otherwise peaceful. My daughter is hooked on the Internet and I think that it is mad, bad and dangerous.
