Just as lots of teenagers take to pop music, I love basketball because it’s part of my life.
I began to play basketball in my childhood. I still remember the good old days when I played with my classmates after school. Later on, as I grew up, almost everything changed expect that the love of playing basketball remained and it even grew stronger.
I love this sport because it brings joys and health to my life. When I got tired after office work, I went to the sports ground and felt refreshed. If there were worries and cares from daily life, I went to the sports ground. There everything went away except basketball. In sum, it is basketball that keeps me in good shape and mood.

Just as sunshine is a necessity to life, so is fresh water. Without fresh water, our human society would come to a stop.
As fresh water is such an important resource to the human society that we need to treasure it as we treasure our life, but how to make it?
First of all, our government should have a good plan for the use of fresh water and develop industries that consume less water. Secondly, waste water must be recycled. Last but not least everyone of us should do his bit to save water.

Although we consider ourselves as highly advanced beings living in a civilized society, bad manners can still be found here and there. For example, some cyclists run the red traffic lights, many passengers litter waste papers and plastic bags in the public places, and some tourists scrabble in tourist attractions, let alone spit on the street. In the cinema, some audience talk loudly on cell phones in front of others.
I’m strongly against talking loudly in the cinema, for this behavior shows no respect at all to others; what’s worse, it upsets the audience who are in the mood of having fun.

Cell phones do play an important role in people’s daily life, but every coin has its two sides. To start with, as a wireless mobile phone, it’s convenient for the user at any time to contact others. Secondly, it’s a helpful companion. With a multifunctional cell phone in hand, one can easily surf the net, downloading what he needs.
However, the cell phone has many disadvantages. For one thing, the machine itself is very expensive and its local service is very costly, not to mention its global service. For another, the radiation transmitted from the mobile phones might do harm to the user’s health.
In my opinion, with its expenses being reduced sharply, its development will have a brighter future. Therefore its advantages will far outweigh it disadvantages.

I am living on the 10th floor of a tower building with my wife and daughter. It is a newly-built block of flats with 22 stories altogether in the north of the city. When we moved in three years ago, I painted the doors myself, but I had the window frames painted. We are
satisfied with the decorations except the cupboards in the kitchen, so I need to build them again. The neighbourhood is nice too. I think my home is cozy and I like my home.

Hobbies are activities from which one can benefit a lot. In my spare time, I like painting, singing, raising flowers and cycling. My hobbies help me relax after periods of hard work. Moreover, I can make many friends who share the same hobbies with me. My hobbies help me maintain a mental and physical balance. As you can see, hobbies can be relaxing, challenging, interesting, enjoyable or educational. So everyone should have one or two hobbies, then the life is meaningful and amusing.

My favorite sport is swimming. There are three reasons why I like the sport best.
First, it is good for keeping fit. It benefits the heart, the lungs（肺）and the limbs（四肢）. Thanks to the sport, I lost my weight and am graceful in form. Second, it is easy to find a place to swim. In the country, I can swim in lakes and rivers. In the city, there are many swimming pools spotted among the residential areas.
Third, it can be done in any weather. It is very cool swimming in hot summer. In cold weather, swimming is especially refreshing.
