篇一:高分英语作文Can stress be good

Can stress be good?

Pressure exists here and there whether you like it or not. Everyone of us suffers pressure in his life.We cannot say pressure is good or not,but from a philosophy view, everything should be moderate, not excessive, then it can run a long time.

However, from our birth,a variety kinds of pressure come flooding around us, like peer pressure, college pressure, work pressure, family pressure, financial pressure...The reasons of pressure are various. First of all, the more and more fierce competition push us ahead, remind us work harder, run faster all the time. In the second place, with the rapid development of society, the price of goods is rocking ridiculously. People feel strained because they find their income can’t meet the ends balance. As a consequence, they spare no effort to chase after money.

Unfortunately ,in the reality, only few of us can be stimulated by such pressure and do well in their ambitions, yet, a majority of us will be overwhelmed by the heavy load on our shoulders,we may become anxious, and be put into a awful circle beyond our control, then be deprived of entertainment and spare time...

Recently, there comes a popular term called “Top ten death jobs”:designer, doctor, nurse, architecture, bank client are all on the list. They all work for a long time ,and are refined to some restrictions and deadlines, especially, the designers and architectures also need endless

creative ideas. Many sad things ,which were attributed to pressure ,have occurred. For instance,a news that a 25-year-old girl working in a big name accounting company died of a sudden heart attack really stunned us.This news evokes a widely-heated debate all around, it rings a wake-up call to the society that it is the high time we should attach much importance to dealing with our pressure in time.

Since we have no way to avoid the pressure,we have to search some accessible methods to help us release pressure. Firstly, squeezing time for yourself,it includes adequate time for sleep and regular time for exercise.Jogging is a popular sport that many white-collars will choose,it can let you take in more fresh air and stimulate the blood circulation, which can refresh your brain, then improve your immune system.Secondly, set accessible goals, don’t be keen on fame and money.,with the pace of modern life continuing to quicken, keep a balanced mental state, don’t be scatterbrained is the most important aspect. Last but not least, the companies should pay more attention to their employees’ mental and physical health.Only when the whole society keep it in mind and take indispensable measures can we build a more harmonious society.

篇二:英语作文Stress can be a friend or an enemy

1. “Stress can be a friend or an enemy.” Give examples to illustrate this statement.

It is commonly believed that only rich middle-aged businessmen suffer from stress. In fact anyone may become ill as a result of stress if they experience a lot of worry over a long period and their health is not especially good. Stress can be a friend or an enemy: it can warn you that you are under too much pressure and should change your way of life. It can kill you if you don’t notice the warning signals. Doctors agree that it is probably the biggest single cause of illness in the Western world. When we are very frightened and worried our bodies produce certain chemicals to help us fight what is troubling us. Unfortunately, these chemicals produce the energy needed to run away fast from an object of fear, and in modern life that’s often impossible. If we don’t use up these chemicals, or if we produce too many of them, they may actually harm us. The parts of the body that are most affected by stress are the stomach, heart, skin, head and back. Stress can cause car accidents, heart attacks, and alcoholism, and may even drive people to suicide. Our living and working conditions may put us under stress. Overcrowding in large cities, traffic jams, competition for jobs, worry about the future, any big changes in our lives, may cause stress. Some British doctors have pointed out that one of Britain’s worst waves of influenza h

appened soon after the new coins came into use. Also if you have changed jobs or moved house in recent months you are more likely to fall ill than if you haven’t. And more people commit suicide in times of inflation. As with all illnesses, prevention is better than cure. If you find you can’t relax, it is a sign of danger. “When you’re taking work home, when you can’t enjoy an evening with friends, when you haven’t time for outdoor exercise —that is the time to stop and ask yourself whether your present life really suits you.” Says one family doctor. “Then it’s time to join a relaxation class, or take up dancing, painting or gardening.

[范文]

Stress is a state of being upset that happens when we are under pressure. Both our feelings and our bodies get upset. We can even get emotionally and physically sick if we have too much stress for too long.

Stress can come at us from every direction. For instance, it can come from fights with other people. It can come when we have too many things to do and too little time to do them. It can also come when we do not have enough money to pay for what we want.

Since stress can make us sick, we have to learn how to deal with it. There are good ways and bad ways to do so. We should deal with stress in good ways, of course. Good ways to cut down on stress include changing our lifestyles. For example, we can learn either to get along with people or to stay away from them. We can decide what to do now, what to do later, and what to leave off doing forever. We can also figure out how to get money or we can cut down on what we want.

We should not deal with stress in bad ways because bad ways to cut down on stress just lead to more troubles, for example, skipping out and leaving our work undone, blaming our problems on someone else, stealing or cheating.
