填connected 是错的,英语没这说法的,应该是中式英语吧
your line was engaged/occupied/busy 这些才是对的

connect：有一种意思是 put into communication by telephone，接通电话，通过电话联系。 而occupy没有这种意思，只是居住，占有空间时间或地点。没有占有电话线一说。。。

connect指的是接通连通，指的是your phone正在通话，而occupy指的是占据侵占，甚至是侵略，比如occupation指的是占据的名词，即职业

后者的意思是占领，而不是占线！was connected 是指被连接，相当于别人像你一样主叫，对方即为被叫，所以是被叫的意思，而不是被占领。明白了吗？

occupy是指占领一定的空间 电话线显然不能用occupy。
如：US has occupied Iraq.美国已经占领了伊拉克！
电话线 网线 电线都只能用connect
我给你打电话 因为你的电话已经连接通了（其他人），所以我就打不通了！

connected是正在连接的意思,而occupied是在占用的意思.
如果你是回应你的朋友的话不需要用was.
