A: No actually. There are many people speaking very good Mandarin, so I had no problems at all.
B: That sounds good. I had so much trouble when I was in Japan, not many people can communicate in English there and I don't know anything in Japanese.

B: Yes that's true, but there still were lots of phrases that cannot be understood without any Japanese knowledge.
A: I hope your trip had gone well though.
B: Oh yes, we had a tour guide. She's a lovely girl from Taiwan and studying in Japan. She's doing tour guide part time to pay her tuition there.
A: Oh that's nice.
B: Yes. She also suggested me to pick up a bit of commonly used Japanese. So I bought this small booklet from the bookstore.
A: Great! I want to learn another language beside English as well! Let's learn together this school year!
