What a 16-year-old girl really want? A father?
No.
She wants the change of her life, a luxury life and high status she had ever experienced. Of course she also want to be loved.
If 'father' does not only mean father, also means poverty, ugly, minor status. Will she also dangle after him?
Movies, take each people's dream come ture. Everything about wealth or status can be changed overnight in dream. All of these is belonging to you and became the key factor of a dream. Of cause it's also a excuse for your something for nothing.
So, it's a nice dream. It seems real and acceptable, so what not see it.
Everybody in it is either sweet and cute, or eccentric and hateful, and the movie asks the timeless question: Can a little girl from America find love and happiness as the daughter of a wealthy and titled English lord? If you are a fan of Bynes, you will probably enjoy finding out the answer for yourself.

What a girl Wants was a good movie because many people can probably relate to Daphne's situation. I thought this movie was good because it was different. Her father never actually got mad at her and their relationship was sweet. They had so much in common. Amanda Bynes plays a very fun character who makes you just want to be her. Oliver as "Ian" was good too. People are easily drawn to his music and his voice, but his actions make you want to stay. I thought it was weird how Ian says "Why are you trying so hard to fit in, when you were born to stand out?" and then after that she changes into someone who actually does fit in and is basically boring. Wouldn't you think she'd be that way in the beginning and change into a more fun person in the end? But it all worked out well and they were a good match. Every role was well played out.
