A new and high-performance adsorbent for de-nitrogenation based upon the Attapulgite and cerium chloride was investigated to remove the nitrous ions in the sewage.In the experiment,optimal conditions for the preparation of the adsorbent were discussed,and the performance of the newly-prepared adsorbent was evaluated.The results of the experiment show in the process of preparation,the adsorbent reaches the optimal performance when it contains 3% of cerium chloride,the adsorbent was baked at 250 degrees for 2 hours and then ground to 40-80 mesh.During the adsorption,weakly acidic condition was favored for the reaction.The isotherm of adsorption was well fit to the Langmuir adsorption equation.The best adsorbing conditions for the experiment were temperature at 55 degrees,pH 3.8-7.5,and the adsorbing time 3 hours.
