In the early 4th century,January 6 was a festive day to commemorate both the birth and baptism of Jesus Christ by the various churches in the eastern part of the Roman Empire. It is known as "Epiphany", which means the manifestation of God to man through Jesus Christ.
The only exception at that time was the Church of Jerusalem, which only commemorated the birth but not the baptism of Jesus. Subsequently, historians discovered that on a page of the calendar normally used by Roman Catholics, the words "Christ was born in Bethlehem of Judah" were found on the page bearing the date December 25, 354A.D.
