The subject of this research is to determine the best synthesis approach by referring to the consulted literatures and the analysis on reaction mechanism; as well as to explore the related factors such as the reaction temperature, reaction time, reactant mole ratio etc. The preparation procedure of Isopropylidene malonate is as follows:
Malonate potassium salt is first obtained by using diethyl malonate as raw material and hydrolyzed by potassium hydroxide. Then, with petroleum ether as additives, malonic acid salt is prepared by reaction with the addition of concentrated hydrochloric acid droplets. The malonic acid salt is then dissolved by ethyl acetate, and through a filtration and concentration process, refined malonic acid is obtained. It was then further reacted with acetone to finally produce isopropylidene malonate. The overall yield was 37.8%.
