先说定语从句
定语从句所修饰的词叫先行词.定语从句放在先行词的后面
the garden which we visited last week
先行词 定语从句
1.who指人,在从句中做主语.
① Do you know the girl?② She is singing on the stage.
由于she在从句中作主语,又指人,变成定语从句需用who 替代,即：
Do you know the girl who is singing on the stage?
2.whose指人或物,在从句中做宾语.
The boy will be sent to study abroad.
His name is Wang Liang.
→ The boy whose name is Wang Liang will be sent to study abroad.
3.whom指人,在从句中做宾语.
① This is the boy.② I met him yesterday.
首先得看出,②句修饰①句中的the boy.him在从句中作宾语,又指人,故用关系代词whom.关系代词需放在从句之首,所以
→This is the boy whom I met yesterday.
4.that / which
关系代词that可以代替who,whom,如：
The man who / that is standing under the tree is my old brother.
They are the men whom / that I saw yesterday.
除此之外,关系代词that 和which 用来指物,在定语从句中可作主语,宾语.
① This is the book.② I bought it yesterday.
→ This is the book which / that I bought yesterday.
