Ladies and gentlemen,good afternoon .I am qixijia from Caoyang No.2 high school.It is my honour to deliever my speech here.First of all,I want to ask you what special day is today?Well today is the 40th earth day.But nowadays this blue planet is facing some serious problems among which is global warming .Global warming refers to an average increase in the Earth's temperature,which in turn causes changes in climate.Earth has warmed by about 1ºF in the past 100 years,which lead to many extreme weather conditions .For example shanghai appeared the hottest day on 30th 7,2007 which was 39.6 degrees .If the temperature goes on to rise for a long time,what will happen then?A warmer Earth may lead to changes in a rise in sea level,and a wide range of impacts on plants,wildlife,and humans.While the warmer weather makes glaciers melt,in the arctic sea appeared the first swimming man .At the same time,without the polar ice to stay,the survival condition of polar bears is alarming.Climate change may be a big problem,but there are many little things we can do to make a difference.In recent years,more and more organizations and individuals are taking an active part in environmental protection such as an earth hour activitie held recently.So how can we as individuals do our part to help save the planet?The answer is simpler than you may think.First,plant a tree.This could be easier than it sounds.Trees,when fully grown,will help keep the planet cooler.On the same point,you could help to protect the rainforests.Second Reduce,reuse and recycle.Only buy what you need; don’t stock the cupboards with things you may or may not use.Reuse whatever you can,like containers and paper,and recycle what you cannot reuse.Third just be smart about your daily life.For example,four people can ride together in one car instead of driving four cars to work.By turning off lights,the television,and the computer when you are through with them,you can help a lot… If everybody stuck to these rules,we would be doing a great thing by protecting the earth.So please take into consideration what I have said,and try to do your part.In fact as long as you are willing to do,you can do it best .as the 2010 shanghai expo comes nearer,Let's do it,protect the environment and build a better home.Thank you .
