我的观点:如果是湖岸(the bank of the lake),因为它是环绕湖水的连续陆地,不能用复数.但是河水需要在两个永远也不会相连的河岸之间流动才不至于泛滥,所以应该用复数 the banks.不仅河岸有复数,街道的两边也应该用复数(the sides of a street).
