以下分别是University of Massachusetts对国际学生申请就读本科和研究生的入学要求:(其中本科的语言要求是第5条,附翻译,目前看只接受托福,没有提到雅思,如果有不清楚的,可以联系我.)
(一)本科的International applicants
As a prospective international student, you are required to submit all of the following materials in order to be considered for admission.
1.Completed admission application
2.If you are applying as first-year student or if you have earned less than a total of 24 credits at other colleges or universities, you are required to submit an official high school record, leaving certificate, and/or graduation examination results.
3.If you have attended any educational institution after high school, you are required to submit official transcripts of your academic record from each institution attended. If you are a non-immigrant international student transferring from another U.S. college or university, you must download, fill out, and return the Transfer Verification Form for Non-Immigrant Students.
4.If the official transcripts of your academic record are not in English, you are required to send an English translation validated by an official public translator.
5.Students whose first language is not English are required to submit test scores for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). The TOEFL tests the student's written and oral abilities to function in the English language. Successful candidates are usually within the range of 550-600 (the 213-250 range on the computer-based test). Information concerning testing dates and places may be obtained by writing to TOEFL, Box 899-R, Princeton, NJ 08541, U.S.A.

(二)研究生的 (语言要求为第4条,也要托福成绩,没有提到雅思)
In addition to meeting the general requirements for admission, international applicants must also meet the following additional requirements:
1. Certain programs have special deadlines. Others follow the general deadlines for graduate studies programs. The completed application form, the $60 application fee, and all supporting materials must reach the University by the applicable special or general deadline listed in the "Application Deadlines" section above. The application fee must be submitted in U.S. currency.
2. Official transcripts of the applicant's academic record, including courses and grades, with English translations on each page validated by an official public translator, must be sent to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
3. Evidence that the applicant has completed a university-level degree program must be submitted. Acceptable evidence includes official copies of diplomas, certificates, and notifications of final examination results.
4. Applicants from countries where English is not the primary language are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A score of at least 550 (on the paper-based exam), or at least 213 (on the computer-based exam) is required. Information about the TOEFL may be obtained from the TOEFL Program, Box 899, Princeton, New Jersey, 08540, USA. This requirement may be waived if the applicant has attended an English-speaking college or university in the United States for a period of at least two academic years full time. The TOEFL will also be required of permanent resident immigrants who have not attended an English-speaking educational institution for at least two years full time.
5. A Declaration and Certification of Finances form (39Kb, PDF) must be completed, along with an affidavit of support from the student's sponsor and documentation from the sponsor's bank, based on an estimate of institutional costs and living expenses. These must be original documents. Submitted documents will not be returned; applicants should be sure to make copies for their own records. The Office of Graduate Admissions will send the form to applicants who do not already have one as soon as their applications are received. The form must be completed accurately, and must show that the total funds available to the student to cover his/her full period of study are at least equal to the total estimates of institutional costs and living expenses.
Note: Each international student must pay the non-resident tuition rate for his/her full period of study.
6. Applicants who hold an I-20 issued by another institution must also submit a Transfer Verification Form properly completed by the International Student Advisor at the institution currently being attending or most recently attended."
Below is an estimate of a single graduate international student's annual expenses. Students should keep in mind that these cost estimates for living expenses are minimum estimates for a 12-month period and that, depending on the individual, actual costs may be higher. Students must be prepared to pay their own expenses and should anticipate yearly increases in both tuition and living expenses. Transportation to and from the United States is not included in the estimates.
Note: University tuition, fees, and living expenses may increase annually. For a complete listing of fees, see Tuition and Fees under the Bursar's section.
Admission to the University
When all admissions credentials have been received, and a decision to admit the applicant has been made, the University will send the applicant an official letter of admission accompanied by a Certificate of Eligibility (I-20 form). Admission is granted for a specific semester only. The I-20 form is valid for that semester only. If the applicant is unable to attend during the designated semester, the University should be notified immediately by mail, and the I-20 form should be returned to UMass Boston. The letter should be sent to the Office of Graduate Admissions and should indicate when the applicant will be able to attend. A $25 admission processing fee is charged for deferred enrollment. Please note: A new I-20 form cannot be issued until the original form has been returned to the University. Updated financial documentation may also be required before a new I-20 form can be issued.
Under no circumstances should an applicant come to UMass Boston without having received the official letter of admission and the I-20 form.
Applicants who come to the University without these official documents do so at their own risk. An applicant's presence on this campus will not expedite or influence the admission process.
