一.Sitting before the computer, I was seeing flashes of memory … amazing snapshots … abrupt cliffs…blue sky with white misty cloud circling around the peak of mountain … scenic water falls … numerous grotesque rocks … and one by one, I vividly recalled the extraordinary landscapes. They were unfolding right before my eyes…
二.The sheer sea cliffs, associated with danger, were a knife edge against the cerulean sky. It was quite a remarkable sight. Compared spectacular Cingshui cliffs with a unique marble gorge in Taroko national park, the latter were even more impressive. “Other than The Grand Canyon in US which was formed when Colorado River and its tributaries broke through and eroded layers of rocks as Colorado Plateau were uplifted, Taroko’s marble gorge was once a trench underneath the sea and it was later squeezed and uplifted by the collision of Philippine Sea plate and the Eurasian Continent plate…” The tour guide was talking my ear off during the journey as all of my attention remained riveted on the scenery along the mountain path. The steep marble-walled gorge showed a splendid masterpiece of nature. “There is more to craggy rocks and silky cascading water than meets the eye.” I muttered, leaning my head back into my seat and knocking my knuckles against the window.

三.“In the next five minutes, we will arrive at the end of the gorge.” The tour guide raised her voice loud enough to wake up the nappers. I sit up, moving my gaze to her face, turning my attention back to her. “Near the end of the gorge, an H shape hanging bridge with marble stone lions on each side is named Cihmu Bridge.” She went on. “Beneath the bridge sits a crouching frog-shaped rock which is composed of two different types of rocks - black layer of schist at the upper section and a white layer of marble at the lower section. A pavilion that looked like a crown was built on the rock…” The frog prince. I grinned. The plots of fairy tale began flashing before my eyes. A gorgeous princess kissed a frog wearing a crown. It ended up turning into a handsome prince. They danced together and lived happily ever after. It’s a cliché but still charming… The tour bus stopped short. I was jolted forward, emerging instantly from my daydream.

四.As I stepped out of the bus, the view offered by nature was stunning. An intense feeling of déjà vu tickled through my veins and was growing stronger. Taking a deep breath, I gazed up at the wonders of God’s creation. Marvelous. Along the trail, I walked warily and was afraid of disturbing the natural beauty of the scenery. True enough, the frog rock looked so real as though it was expecting the princess’ arrival. At the bottom of the gorge, eroded by winds and waterfalls over millions of years, the strange-looking rocks appeared even more appealing and inviting…
