1、路在“脚”下：赵春，家在内蒙古的商都县。1990年，他高考差十几分没上成大学，家里无钱供他复读，他不想再依赖父母，便出去“闯”了，那年他17岁。在安阳，他先找了个卖馍的活，每天推着车上街叫卖。后又到安阳浴池给人搓背，搓一个背能挣2角5分，交一半给浴池，自己留一半，在浴池搓背的一段时间里，他开始拜师学修脚。为了练技术，他给人修脚不收费。整整10年，至少义务修脚上万人次。1990年终于获得了“特二级修脚师”职称证书。之后不久，转为国营正式职工。那天，他高兴得哭了好久好久。1994年夏天，根据市政规划，安阳浴池被拆迁，赵春刚捧上的“铁饭碗”打碎了。失望、痛苦、焦虑之后，他平静下来。他面对现实，勇于自立，苦练按摩技术。1996年，他又受聘于安阳宾馆桑拿中心，开展足部按摩服务。1997年5月，被评为河南省“十佳再就业明星”。

3、刘源靠自己努力作官：原河南省副省长刘源。是原国家主席刘少奇的小儿子。刘源从小虽然有很优越的生活条件，但家教严格，促使他多锻炼多吃苦，很小就能自主自立。他不愿让人们知道他是刘少奇的儿子，他当县长、当副省长并不是靠他父亲的头衔（当时他父亲已经被迫害致死），而是靠自己的能力，靠自己的真才实学，靠这么多年艰苦锻炼出来的胆量、魄力和头脑。他一直把自己看作是一个普通人，一个为人民兢兢业业工作而不计报酬的人。

4、父亲的一枚硬币：戴维·布瑞纳是美国著名的喜剧演员。他中学毕业时，向父亲求助。父亲给他一枚硬币，告诉他：“用这枚硬币去买一张报纸，一字不漏地读一遍，然后在广告栏里，自己找一份工作到世界上去闯一闯。”后来，布瑞纳通过艰苦奋斗终于取得了成功。他回首往事，认为父亲的那枚硬币是“最好的礼物”。

曾经很多年，我花费最多的项目是飞机票。对于其他女孩子着迷的名牌服装、化妆品等，倒一概沾不上边儿。穿着宽松的棉裤子，带着肯尼亚制篮子，买张廉价飞机票走天南地北，那是我的style（风格）。

我二十多岁离乡背井，单枪匹马逍遥世界，手头上总不太宽裕。当年有个日本朋友半同情、半嘲笑地跟我说过：“从没见过像你这么穷的人!”我本人却目瞪口呆，因为一点不觉得自己贫穷。能到国外生活，想念书就念书，要工作就工作，虽然住的是破旧的单间小公寓，但始终不至于挨饿。再说，从没欠过买张飞机票的钱。那可以说是我从小憧憬的理想生活了。为什么别人认为我穷呢?

世界上很多人以为有钱就富裕。旅人一族的价值观念就不一样。旅人最重视自由。那位日本朋友拥有事业、房子、汽车、家庭等，样样是当时的我所没有的财产。但他却没有像我那么多的自由。

当然，若是没有钱就很不自由了。但是，为了确保自由，所需要的钱其实也不多。关键在于那一点钱非得是自己的。只要是自己挣来的钱，即使换来的不过是一块肥皂，也能享受到精神上的奢侈。有一年，我在多伦多皇家银行大楼上班，从事不合乎天性的业务，自我感觉近乎坐牢。月底拿到工钱后，我就到地下的西药房，买了一块芳香润滑的黄金色肥皂，乃优质蜂蜜所制，呈现着丰满的椭圆形。那块肥皂带来的精神自由，我至今忘不了。

不过，我在皇家银行大楼上班的日子毕竟没维持多久。在高层的办公室隔着玻璃窗看得见美丽如镜的安大略湖，却呼吸不到外边的大气。于是我又一次提交辞呈远走高飞。但也开始深刻思索：如何在做旅人的同时也做一个负责任的社会人士。

后来我走的路线相当漫长。从五大湖边，经过圣劳伦斯河到大西洋，之后又往西飞越北美大陆和太平洋，在亚热带英国殖民地熬了三年半，才回到家乡东京来。这回，身边多了另一半，也有了房子，不久后一个又一个孩子都诞生了。我曾经认为：人拥有得越多，越不自由，财产不外是累赘。如今，自己有了家，做起负责任的社会人士来了。那么，旅人身份怎样保持呢?

单身时代、新婚时期到处旅行的多数人，一旦有了孩子就暂停旅行。那可以说是非常理性的选择。只是我本人对旅行的渴望压倒理性。抱着孩子，背着孩子，推着婴儿车，我都非去旅行不可。但是幼儿到了水土不服的异乡就会发烧啦，拉肚子啦，闹脾气啦。我有一次在

东马婆罗洲密林里，抱着发高烧的孩子深夜赶车赴穆斯林医院；有一次在北京前门饭店的套房里，抱着闹脾气的孩子白白地耗过整整一个星期；有一次在台北基督教青年会旅社的前台，值班服务生看到我带两个小孩儿走进来的样子，竟然说出了：“这样还要旅行?”是的。这样还要旅行的。为什么?只能说：因为我是旅人。

我家的孩子，在还没去过东京迪士尼乐园之前，已拥有第二本护照了。在还没吃过麦当劳的汉堡之前，已吃过北京烤鸭、台北涮涮锅了。对此小兄妹有什么感想，目前还不得而知。也许等他们长大开始自己去旅行以后，有一天我们会讨论吧。在我看来，能够一个人旅行是独立人格的标志。而旅人生涯所带来的自由，远远超过一块蜂蜜肥皂。
