The Dragon Boat Festival ,also called the Duanwu Festival ,is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar（农历). People always eat rice dumplings and watch dragon boat races to celebrate it.

The festival is best known for its dragon-boat races,especially in the southern places where there are many rivers and lakes. It is very popular.

The rice dumpling is made of glutinous rice,meat and so on. You can eat different kinds of rice dumplings.They are very delicious.

And Dragon Boat Festival is for Qu Yuan. He is an honest minister who is said to have committed suicide(自杀） by drowning himself （沉在河里）in a river. The local people, knowing him to be a good man, decided to throw food into the river to feed the fish so they would not eat Qu's body. People express their thoughts and respect to Qu Yuan in this way.

All in all, the Dragon Boat Festival is a very interesting and important Chinese traditional festival.

春节

The Spring Festival

The Spring Festival， Chinese New Year，is the most important festival for all of us.

Several days before the new year，people begin to prepare for it. Farmers kill pigs， sheep， cocks and hens or buy meat fish and vegetables. Houses are cleaned；Colourful lanterns (灯笼)are hung at the gate.

All family members get together on New Year'Eve to have a big meal. At the same time，everyone celebrates to each other.At about 12 o'clock，some parents and children light crackers.The whole sky is lighted brightly. We may watch the fireworks excitedly.How busy it is！ On the first early moring of one year，people often get up early and they send best wishes to each other and say ‘ Happy New Year”. Some house's windows are sticked on red paper cutlings.(红色剪纸）

The Chinese New Year lasts fifteen days. So during the fifteen days， we always visit our relatives from door to door. At that time，children are the happiest because they can get many red packets form their parents，grandparents， uncles，aunts and so on. The last day of the Chinese New Year is another festival. It names the Lantern Festival.

The Spring Festival is a very importand and interesting day for Chinese people. People express their best wishes for the coming new year.
