nali is placed after ordinary verbs or verb phrases but after directory verbs,such as 'qu nali,lai nali,shang nali?
However,people do say:ni nali qu?for poetic purposes,so you may hear this kind of way of saying more in songs or proses than in ordinary conversations.

I think it's because these two verbs are in different type. But I can't tell. I talked with a girl who's teach foreigners Chinese and know that it's much complicated to teach someone Chinese than English. Don't want to make u more confused. Better let some Chinese teacher tell u.
