Firstly,I like to give you a brief introduction of Yangtze River (Changjiang),as everyone probably knows,Yangtze River is our country's longest river,and is the third longest river in the world,after Africa's River Nile and South America's Amazon River.Its source can be traced to the Qinghai and Tibet highland of the Tanggula Mountains,and its flow cuts across a provincial autonomous region and finally into the
East China Sea.Its full length is 6300 miles (six thousand and three hundred miles).Yangtze River basin accounts for 1/5 (one-fifth)of our country's land area.
When Yangtze River's flow reaches Fengjie ¾ eastern part of Sichuan,it immediately breaks through lofty ridges and towering mountains and surges downward,creating (forming) a magnificent (imposing)grand canyon¾ the Yangtze River Three Gorges,which is where we are going to tour today.The Three Gorges we talk about today is,in fact,the general (collective) term for Qutang Gorge,Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge.
It (the Three Gorges) begins from Fengjie's Baidi Town,Chongqing,in the west,to Yichang city's Nanjin Pass,Hubei province,in the east,with an overall length of over 200 miles,all three gorges have their own individual characteristic:there are peaks rising one upon another,
all of different shapes,travel along the Three Gorges by boat,one could see the colour of the mountain is blocked for one moment and opens up the next,it is a place of unique,enchanting beauty.

First, I want to introduce everyone to Yangtze River. As you may know, the Yangtze is the longest river in China, and the third longest in the world. The first and second being the Nile in Africa, and the Amazon in South America. Its head stream is from the Tibetan-Qinghai plateau, near Tangola mountain, and it strides over the autonomous, finally reaching the East China Sea. The total length of the river is six thousand and three hundred kilometers. The Yangtze Valley amount to about one fifth of the total land mass of China.
When the Yangtze passes the flows into Eastern Sichuan, it bursts through the mountains and forms the magnificent canyon, the Yangtze Three Gorges, which is where we're visiting today. The Three Gorges that we speak of now are Qu River, Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge. It starts in the west at Chong Qing, and branches out east to Hu Bei, the total length being two hundred plus kilometers. The three Valleys are each distinguishable, there are rolling mountains along the banks at both sides, with fantastic shapes and formations, and the boat will travel between the Three Gorges, soemtimes in the shade of the moutains and sometimes incompletely open areas. It will be very interesting.
We've arrived at the Qu river, it starts in the west at Chong Qing, Baidi City, and stops in the east at Wu Shan Province, Dai xi Town, spreading a total of eight kilometers, and is the shortest amongst the three gorgest, but is very beautiful and magnificent.
After the Yangtze rounds Da Ning River and comes into the Wu River Gorge, we've come to the quaint little city of Wu Shan. There's a saying in the Da Nin area that "Even though it's not Three Gorges, it's better than the three gorges". There are three smaller gorges where the Da ning and the Ma Du cross. If one can describe the Three Gorges as a symphony, then Xiao Shan Xia can be described as the highlight of the movement. It's a wonderful little excerpt of the Wu Gorge. The Wu Gorge starts at Chong Qing's Da Ning Riverhead, and ends at Ba Dong Province's Guan Du Kou, totaling forty five kilometers, and is the neatest of the three gorges.
Coming out of the Wu Gorge, we've come to the last of the Three Gorges, Xi Ling Gorge. It starts west in Zi Gui County, Xi Ling, and ends in the east at Yi Chang, Nan Jin Guan. Its total is 76 kilometers, and is the longest of the three gorges.
