It is a tradition for most people in China to entertain their guests with more than enough food, believing that they have not satisfied their guests if there is no food left on the table, which they think is a good way to show their hospitality. They think they will be looked down upon if they make a doggie bag of the leftovers. As a result, restaurant trashcans are often found full of leftover foods, with full plates untouched.

Nowadays, with the development of life quality, increasing number of

people are accustomed to ordering too much food to host guests, finally

leaving food wasted.

There are three reasons accounting for this phenomenon. First, the

belief that friendship should be cherished is dominant in our traditional

culture. So Chinese tend to order more food than they can consume. And

some people desire to show their richness by ordering too much food,

from which they can get satisfaction. More importantly, productivity is

improving dramatically during the decades years. So we call on individuals to take part in the activity to make a

difference for society. For citizens, we can benefit a lot from it , such as

forming a good habit, becoming an economic person. For whole country,

only when we know how to cherish, can we get hope and competitive
